If your New Year’s resolutions included finding a new signature scent, well, that was just silly. The Commodity Goods Cocktail Kit launched at Sephora this week, however, so at least you have an achievable February goal. With countless options to mix it up or take it neat, my favorite fragrance people now take you on your own bespoke adventure. Creating a personal scent just got intoxicating.

Classic with a modern twist, Commodity Goods is known for their unique and top quality single note creations, which they encourage users to combine. Color coded to emit more intense options (black) and lighter, more airy aromas (white), there are no rules when it comes to layering. The new Cocktail Kit offers ten best selling scents: Gold, Mimosa, Rain, Magnolia, Tea, Whiskey, Book, Moss, Wool, and Gin, and all I can say is that you may end up getting five full size bottles after you’re done playing. They’re that good.

Those familiar with Commodity Goods, may have seen a similar set called a Fitting Kit, which is still available on their site as part of the ‘Sample First, Then Redeem’ offer. A total groupie, of course I had to have one and am thrilled to talk apples to apples. The try-me part of this Sephora exclusive has been vastly improved. So what’s changed? Quite a bit really. The ten spray vials are 2ml each and while it may not sound like a lot, I’ve sacrificed one of them (sorry, Gold) to count the 35 spritzes it yielded. That’s 350 hits of fragrance. The predecessor features .5ml vials so how about a ‘YASSSS’? Also, while the Fitting Kit features Paper, it is subbed with Magnolia in the Cocktail version.

Casual yet luxe and totally unisex, the Commodity Goods fragrances are intriguing and unexpectedly original. Neither plain nor basic, but captivating in their simplicity, I’ve been reaching often for these head turning scents. Fans of earthy with a hint of green will love Moss. Bright and effervescent? Mimosa. Rain is clean and airy, Gin is crisp and a little bit woodsy, and Wool balances warm and spicy notes to perfection. A mixology experience, the Cocktail Kit allows you to play and invent combinations that reflect every one of your moods. Below are my top five.

  • Mellow Bart = Wool/Tea
  • Happy Hour Bart = Mimosa/Book
  • Casual Bart = Rain/Gin
  • Nighttime Bart = Whiskey/Rain
  • Complex Bart = Magnolia/Wool

ohhhhh my goodness I am so excited to find this!! I have been dying to try these scents. I love the idea of finally being able to find my “signature scent” and the customization and classiness of this kit just makes me swoon. I think my blend would be Whiskey + Book, to take advantage of the woodsy, earthy notes in both and also the unique elements of the whiskey barrels. Makes a whiskey loving, nerdy English major like me drool just thinking about it. Thank you for this opportunity!

Oooh maybe Tea/magnolia ? Would love to play with these scents. I love layering anyway and feel like the best fragrances are ones you can create yourself by mixing two together! How fun! What a cute set!

I’m thinking gold + magnolia for a spring scent! I love mixing scents and made all sorts of concoctions as a kid. Now all grown up I find it just as amusing and also important to have my own mixes.
