EVE LOM Renewal Treatment Oil

New and much improved!

I’ve learned to manage expectations when hearing about a new face oil. Is it because there are already so many options? Maybe. Does the world need another face oil? Debatable. This is why I have the strictest criteria for evaluating any new bottle that lands in my hands. Most recently, I received the new EVE LOM Renewal Treatment Oil and was intrigued for two reasons. One, I’m all for improvements and had not been a fan of the brand’s previous formula (Radiance Face Oil). Two, the ingredient highlights sounded excellent. Full scoop below.

What is it?

I can be captivated either by the purity or the complexity of a formula. There are some truly incredible single ingredient face oils that I absolutely adore (African Botanics, Le Prunier or Maya Chia, to name a few) or intriguing fusions that result in a multi-faceted anti-aging performance, like Vintner’s Daughter or Augustinus Bader. The new Eve Lom formula falls into the latter category and after a few weeks of trying it out, I’m pretty impressed.

What’s in it?

EVE LOM combines 10 nourishing oils in the new launch. I actually counted 11 but there’s a chance I’m not recognizing the distinctions correctly. Here they are: Grape Seed, Crambe, Passion Fruit, Rosehip, Meadowfoam, Avocado, Jojoba, Argan, Borage, Camelina Sativa, and Sunflower Seed Oils. Plus Squalane. Such an impressive blend is bound to deliver a healthy dose of soothing, nourishing, lipid-replenishing, and skin barrier-restoring moisture in every drop.

I love a face oil that goes above the standard moisturizing benefits. The new EVE LOM launch includes Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, an oil-soluble form of Vitamin C, which delivers skin brightening properties. Hexylresorcinol, an anti-glycation agent present in some of my favorite products like PCA Skin C&E Advanced and SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense, is also exciting to me. It provides superb antioxidant protection and has the ability to brighten dull, lackluster looking skin. I like that. A lot. Win win.

Texture, scent, application, etc

Since the ingredient deck opens up with Coco-Caprylate/Carpate (a biocompatible emollient) and Triolein (anti-inflammatory conditioning compound) the new Renewal Treatment Oil feels incredibly silky upon contact with the skin. It is surprisingly non-oily and actually quite lightweight. As someone who prefers to apply facial oil on damp skin (heavily misted) to maximize absorption and minimize the shine, I’ve found the new EVE LOM oil does great on its own. It instantly delivers that soft and supple skin feeling. I find it incredibly user friendly in both my AM or PM routines.

A handful of Eve Lom favorites.

Let’s quickly chat about the scent. If you’re familiar with the signature herbal aroma for which the EVE LOM cleansing balm is so well-known, you’ll appreciate the similar aromatherapy perk, delivered by the new Renewal Treatment Oil. Luckily, the intensity of the scent is significantly subdued so it doesn’t linger or clash with other scented products in your regimen. Personally, I find the blend of Geranium, Rosemary, Lavender, and Lemon very pleasant and mind-soothing.

Face oil + gua sha = excellence

Final Thoughts

Overall, this launch is a significant improvement in EVE LOM’s face oil game. If you’re looking for an elegant oil blend that provides immediate nourishment and helps to firm and brighten the skin with long term use, try the Renewal Treatment Oil. Is it my all-time-favorite face oil? It’s not there yet, but it is one of the most user-friendly, quick-absorbing formulas I have come across recently. Very well done, indeed.
