For someone who doesn’t wear makeup, I sure own a lot of it. After the Westman Atelier bronzing drops became a staple on my shelf, I was delighted when the brand reached out with a lookbook of shades for their Suprême Bio-Complex Liquid Foundation. Picking a foundation shade blindly is a special kind of stress. I agonized. Then I trusted my gut. My gut was right. Again. Here’s my express review of this luxury treat in case you’ve been eyeing it, too.

Me vs. Westman Atelier Foundation
Some backstory. The Vital Skin foundation stick never clicked for me. The shades ran so warm on my skin that every swatch read yellow, then more yellow. The Face Trace stick in Biscuit and the Sun Tone Bronzing Drops, on the other hand, had me hooked from day one. So I went into this liquid formula with cautious optimism.

Unpopular opinion: I loathe full coverage. I have little business wearing foundation in the first place, so I want it sheer, subtle, and natural. My skin should look better. It should not look like it’s wearing makeup. Tricky? Very. Luckily, makeup is getting more guy-friendly by the day, even in daylight. Hence my collection keeps growing…

So when do I wear foundation? When I want my skin to look extra good. That means the formula has to be exceptional enough to justify a splurge. It’s a special-occasion product. A treat, if you will.

What Is Westman Atelier Suprême Foundation?
Suprême Bio-Complex Liquid Foundation is a weightless, medium-coverage formula with a natural-looking finish. It comes in 30 shades. The formula is free of silicones and talc, and the brand describes it as non-comedogenic (which means it won’t clog your pores or trigger breakouts). The recommended amount of product per application is 1 pump. That’s it.

Skin Prep Before Westman Atelier Suprême Liquid Foundation
Skin prep is everything with this one. The goal is the smoothest possible canvas. Exfoliate first if you need to, because dead skin buildup is foundation’s worst enemy. Then hydrate. Mist your face after cleansing, press a hyaluronic acid serum into damp skin (my favorites are here), follow with moisturizer, and finish with SPF.
I give my sunscreen 3 to 5 minutes to set. Then I reach for foundation.

The “Skincare” in Makeup Marketing
I’m over it. The amount of skincare ingredients in any makeup product is too small to deliver real results. Your foundation will not firm your skin or erase sun damage. It also won’t give you adequate UV protection unless you apply about five times more than you’d ever want on your face. We’re talking clown makeup territory.

So why are they there? Texture. Skincare ingredients make makeup feel more elegant. Formulas glide on softer, blend smoother, and set more evenly. They’re not treatments. They’re a better user experience. Sorry but someone had to say it.

Westman Atelier pitches this one with peptides, niacinamide, and exosome technology, backed by a 30-person clinical study. I’ll stay skeptical. A foundation I wear on special days isn’t running a four-week treatment protocol on my face.

I may be in the minority, but I don’t buy makeup for its ingredient list. What matters to me is that a foundation, bronzer, tinted moisturizer, or concealer never looks or feels like a mask. Shade match aside, I want natural and subtle.

Application: Fingers vs. Brush vs. Sponge
As a non-makeup-expert, I’ve learned that fingers don’t work for most liquid foundations. The exception is Jones Road What The Foundation, which is so moisture-forward the pigment practically blends itself. More conventional formulas with real coverage need a brush or a damp sponge. The blending is more precise. Pressing or stippling builds coverage where you need it. Most importantly, the hairline, nostrils, and jawline stay streak-free.

My current favorite is The Face Blending Brush from Jones Road, which I also use with their stick foundation. It’s the perfect size to keep by the sink and fits in most overnight travel bags. One trick I love: I spritz the brush with a hydrating face mist for a final buff. It helps the foundation set without clinging to dry patches.

How It Wears
As you can see in the photos, I use 1 to 1.5 pumps of Suprême. I dot it on the areas that need help, mainly redness and uneven tone, then blend with a brush. Three hours into a long outdoor lunch, a quick mirror check in the restroom confirmed my skin still looked great. Around the six-hour mark, the formula started to wear down, and a quick press with a makeup sponge sorted it out. The coverage however, was almost gone.
Keep in mind I skip primer and setting powder. If your routine bookends foundation with both, I’d expect even better longevity.

Is the Westman Atelier Suprême Liquid Foundation Worth It?
Splurges are personal, so I won’t generalize. I like this foundation a lot. Its rival on my shelf is the Prada foundation, and that comes down to shade: my Prada match runs a touch less warm on me (I wear shade MN50). For my use, special days only, I expect this bottle to last a year. If I wore a full face daily and needed a new bottle every month, the math would change.
Lastly, as much as I enjoy this Westman Atelier liquid formula, I get the best results from Jones Road Your Skin foundation stick. The latter being more natural-looking on my skin while covering redness effectively.
Where to Buy Westman Atelier Suprême Foundation
Westman Atelier Foundation FAQ
How long does Westman Atelier Suprême foundation last?
On me, about six hours without primer or setting powder. It still looked great three hours in, then started to wear down. With primer and powder, expect better longevity.
What is the best way to apply Westman Atelier foundation?
With a brush or a damp sponge. Fingers do not blend it as precisely. I dot 1 to 1.5 pumps on redness and uneven areas, then blend and buff with a brush spritzed with face mist.
How much coverage does it give?
Medium and buildable, with a natural, hydrated finish. It applies sheer, so you can press more where you need it.
Is Westman Atelier Suprême foundation silicone-free?
Yes. It is a silicone-free formula, which is part of why it feels so weightless.
How many shades does it come in?
There are 30 shades.
Is Westman Atelier foundation worth it?
For special occasions, yes. One bottle should last me a year at that pace. For daily wear, I still prefer the more natural Jones Road Your Skin foundation stick.

I’ve been hesitant to splurge on this one… Looks pretty good on you. Does it oxidize?
