Jones Road Beauty — Makeup Brushes

Jones Road Beauty makeup brushes.

Jones Road Beauty is part of my self-care routine for three main reasons: simplicity, efficacy, and aesthetic. After covering a few of my favorites in detail (that would be Miracle Balm, Face Pencil, Gel Bronzer, What The Foundation, and Shower Fragrance), it’s time for me to talk about the tools. Because surprise, surprise, the Jones Road makeup brushes may actually be the unsung heroes of the brand. Made in Italy and equipped with handles just long enough to be comfortable and practical, the softest synthetic bristles disperse and blend pigment into the skin, making you feel like a pro.

Here’s the thing about Jones Road makeup brushes: you technically don’t need them. Bobbi’s no-nonsense philosophy is laser focused on each product being super user-friendly. Fingers are your best tools. With that said, there is a level of precision in makeup application that only a great brush can achieve. And since I have no skills in the makeup department but love the way a hint of tint looks on my skin, I often rely on a brush or two for the most natural-looking finish possible. Here are some I’ve come to collect and how I use them.

Jones Road Skin Brush with What The Foundation.

The Skin Brush

There is a reason Jones Road calls it “The Goldilocks brush: not too stiff, not too fluffy, just right”. The Skin Brush ($36) is that perfect happy medium that does most things well. Usually, I reach for it to help blend What The Foundation into my facial hair line, which it does seamlessly. I’ve also used it to mix the Oil-Free Moisturizer with my Gel Bronzer in Medium for a lightweight tinted moisturizer over the summer. The flat brush head makes applying most cream or liquid formulas shockingly easy.

Jones Road Everything Brush with Miracle Balm.

The Everything Brush

I’ll be the first to agree that Jones Road makeup applies great with your fingers. But honestly, if it weren’t for The Everything Brush ($40), I don’t think I’d be enjoying all my Miracle Balms as much as I am. This one has shorter bristles and a tight, wide brush head for a super precise, controlled application. It’s excellent at blending product along my hairline (I find the area by my temples to be tricky with Gel Bronzer and What The Foundation) but also dotting the MB in Dusty Rose on my cheeks for that ‘happy to be here’ radiant glow.

Jones Road Detail Brush with Face Pencil for undereye concealer application.

The Detail Brush

My most recent Jones Road purchase, The Detail Brush ($26) has proven to be excellent for the application of any undereye concealer. On days I want my Face Pencil (shade 11 under my eyes is pure excellence) to do the most, this tool helps me blend it in so smoothly, I really look like I got eight hours of sleep. Because of the much smaller brush head, its tip makes spot treating with concealer anywhere on the face really easy. Particularly around the nose where I’m prone to some redness once in a while.

Jones Road Bronzer Brush for pressed powder.

The Bronzer Brush

This one is big and fluffy. A must-have for pressed powder application, The Bronzer Brush ($44) has a wider brush head that delivers light and even coverage. It’s beautiful and looks the part. Personally, I rarely wear powder makeup and out of the two Jones Road bronzers, I much prefer the gel formula. With that said, I don’t reach for this one all that often. That may, however, change during Spring and Summer months when my combination skin (hey, oily T-zone!) could use a subtle powder bronzer touch-up.

Jones Road Powder Brush with Tinted Powders.

The Powder Brush

This may be an amateurish observation, but I find the Powder Brush ($45) to be very similar (like, VERY similar) to the Bronzer Brush. It’s as big and fluffy but the brush head is round vs flat on this one. I’ve used it with my Tinted Powder to help tone down the shine just a tad during the summer. It picks up a lot of product so light-handed application is recommended. Especially if you’re a makeup novice like me.
