You Can Sit With Us! – Aēsop Deodorant

The Aēsop Deodorant is a perfect example of a basic gone luxe and though I rarely get excited about a daily hygiene product, this one makes me feel both chic and down to earth–in a Gwyneth Paltrow kind of way. With its somewhat hefty price tag, I always imagined seeing this one in a Goop newsletter instead of on my own bathroom counter. This essential gives out both high-performance and prestige, which makes it a pretty haute item. #Aēsoppose

What makes it special?

It takes only a long day or one white T-shirt to know that not all deodorants are created equal. With an earthy and herbal mix of vetiver root and coriander seed, this grounded Aēsop formula is a perfect unisex scent. Packed with soothing Witch Hazel and eleven essential oils that include Lavender, Thyme, Tea Tree, Clove and Eucalyptus, this crisp blend delivers an outstanding underarm odor eliminating performance. #Naturally

Under Pressure

Standing out from the gels and solids, the Aēsop deodorant is a liquid that comes in a bottle with a spray nozzle. Aluminium-free, it will never stain your clothes, which has just extended the longevity of my favorite Marc Jacobs tees another few years. A spritz under each arm and you’re good for hours. The other day I was faced with a stick shift, which I haven’t touched in a decade. Add in some seriously dusty roads with no streetlights in a third world country, 90 degree heat, and a foreign language, and…you get the idea. We made it to dinner on time smelling fresh.  I’m pretty sure the aromatherapy helped keep us calm… #StressTest

Basically Luxe…

Harmonizing cutting edge science with the world of botanicals, Aēsop has a massive global following in addition to that from its Australian roots. Favored by famous dudes (Jake Gyllenhaal) and leading ladies from Down Under (Nicole Kidman), the brand’s old world apothecary and modern design aesthetic is extremely appealing. The uniform merchandising of brown hued bottles that protect each formula against UV rays makes for gorgeous displays, whether you see Aēsop at Barneys New York or in their stand alone stores. #Aēsophistication

DeodoRANT

Why is the deodorant the only Aēsop product I’ve ever tried from this cult beauty brand then? Well… Picture this: a gay couple walks into the Aēsop store in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. The mood: in between drinks, cheerful. The store: empty. After being properly ignored, I ask what is their best seller – a product someone new to the brand has to try. The response: no top seller, every product is great. Next question: your best selling mask? Yeah, no. There isn’t one of those either. #TwilightZone

I don’t see red, I don’t pinch myself as if I’m hallucinating. I hear Natalie Cole singing ‘Wild Women Do’ in my head. This is the scene in ‘Pretty Woman’ in which Julia Roberts is told “I don’t think we have anything for you; you’re obviously in the wrong place” while shopping on Rodeo Drive. To the sulky girl working at Aēsop that day: it gets better. Or just take your Pērcocēt. Something! And… scene.

Aēsop Deodorant $35 (50ml) is available at nordstrom.com or barneys.com
