A deep dive into PCA Skin’s hyaluronic acid sleep mask — how it hydrates, layers, and why it’s become a surprise nightly staple.

Ask me about my favorite PCA Skin product and I'll need you to be way more specific. There are simply too many. Cleanser? The Pigment Bar. Mask? The Pore Refining Treatment. Serum? Hyaluronic booster. Speaking of, not only is this serum seriously impressive, it is now available in a super deluxe 3 oz. size. The good news doesn’t end here though. PCA Skin has also just launched a brilliant hydrating ancillary – the new Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Mask.
Formulated to nourish, calm, hydrate, and rejuvenate dull, dehydrated skin, it sure sounds like the perfect fit for pretty much anyone. A once-recognized loyalist of the brand, I’ve been beyond excited to receive a jar pre-release. All you need to know is below!

What is this Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Mask exactly?
The new Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Mask is the last step in your PM routine to seal in all the moisture and to provide a cushion of hydration while you sleep. It does not replace your HA serum nor does it replace a great night cream. I find it to work as something of an in-between the two. It’s definitely a few notches above the more ubiquitous ‘sleeping masks’ that have become popular this past decade.
This latest from PCA Skin is both elegant and effective in its simplicity. And, true to the brand’s ethos, it is focused on straightforward ingredients that deliver results. No need for any bells and whistles.

What’s in the new PCA Skin mask?
First and foremost, the mega hydration comes courtesy of Sodium Hyaluronate and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid. This combination ensures your parched skin receives an instant burst of plumping hydration and delivers continuous comfort while your skin is in its most rested state — sleep.
A very special nod goes to Persian Silk Tree Bark Extract, a botanical with the ability to increase cellular energy and fight glycation (it's when sugar molecules attach themselves to collagen and elastin proteins and cause dullness and lack of firmness; so another way to age prematurely that nobody asked for). Other ingredient highlights include skin conditioning Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, brightening and pore refining Niacinamide, as well as nourishing Vitamin B5 and Glycerin.

How & when to use this PCA Skin formula:
An overnight mask is almost always the very last step in your PM routine. With that said, the new Hyaluronic Acid solution has a gel-like texture and a bit of a slip (it does contain Dimethicone for those particular about silicones in their products). Personally, I haven't yet had much luck applying a water-based formula (such as this new mask) over, let’s say, a face oil, which I often use at night. This newness however, does fantastically well applied over my retinoids and prevents any potential redness or sensitivity.
Since it absorbs quickly and feels quite lightweight (I use two pumps per application), it’s also my current go-to product to lay over some acid-infused resurfacing serums I use a few times during the week (like Drunk Elephant Framboos, Sunday Riley Good Genes or Tata Harper).

Do you need this Hyaluronic Acid sleep mask?
As mentioned in the opening, this is not replacing my beloved PCA Skin Hyaluronic Booster serum (again, it really is one of the very best on the market imho) but my skin is thriving with the extra hydration this new mask provides. It’s not a nightly staple, but definitely serves as the much needed reset button I need midweek and on the weekend. During a recent trip overseas, it was my total skin savior as I spent more time on planes and trains with a medical grade face mask than I wanted. Bonus points for the jar packaging with press down lid.
