A perfect blend of innovation, luxury and efficacy, MDSolarSciences™ aims to deliver a flawless sun protection experience with a side of education through its extremely wearable and user friendly range. Founded by Dr. Robert J. Friedman, a dermatologic oncologist in New York City and Clinical Professor at NYU School of Medicine Department of Dermatology, this impeccably curated line up needs to be on your radar. Formulated with assistance from a dedicated scientific advisory council (beauty industry #squadgoals), this newcomer to Sephora will satisfy the most nitpicky SPF hater out there.

How is MDSolarSciences™ distinctive?

In spite of the rapid growth of the SPF market and its accompanying trends, it is difficult to find a daily sunscreen that feels weightless, wears well throughout the day, and provides a traceless finish. We’ve all experienced the white casts and oil slicks that come with a prestige price tag. Enter MDSolarSciences™, which offers both sun care and sun repair solutions that fit every skin type, lifestyle, and personal preference.

Why am I a fan?

For a tightly edited range, MDSolarSciences™ delivers elaborate blends that prevent sun damage and address existing UV related complexion fiascos. From daytime superstars to overnight heroes, the brand doesn’t overpromise and serves impressive ingredient decks. As a loyal daily sunscreen wearer, I tremendously appreciate their seriousness in approach: SPF 30 or 50 only. Personally, anything below interests me very little. Skincare minimalists and fans of multi-taskers will love the tinted options.

SPF

From the handful of MDSolarSciences™ creations, my outdoor/poolside favorite is the Mineral Crème Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UVA-UVB Sunscreen. I’ll admit this particular formula blends in really well, but it is a bit too heavy for my combination skin’s regular daytime routine. It’s that damn T-zone! It’s pretty perfect for weekends or days with heavy sun exposure though. Love the silky texture and anti-aging perks of Vitamin C and Green Tea, Cranberry Seed and Pomegranate Extracts. $30 (1.7 oz.) or $50 (4 oz.)

Ok, the Mineral Sunscreen Stick Broad Spectrum SPF 40 UVA-UVB Sunscreen. Solid, literally and figuratively, this ultra travel friendly option is white but glides on clear with a subtle purple sheen that vanishes after you massage it in. The dry touch finish is fantastic and I constantly apply it under my eyes, on and around the lips, and down the neck – areas that burn fast or are the most sun sensitive. $18 (.6 oz.)

Sun Repair

My all time favorite within the MDSolarSciences™ range, these navy blue pump bottles are the ultimate trifecta. The Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 is a lightweight lotion, which features a proprietary blend of Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Chamomile, Seaweed, Rose Hips, and Green Tea Extracts, among others known as ProVention-R™ This signature ingredient library is the common thread within this moisturizer and its ancillaries: Evening Facial Repair Serum and Daily Eye Repair Emulsion.

Non-negotiable, the Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 has luxurious creamy consistency that absorbs brilliantly and feels beyond comfortable when combined over any serum. Legit holy grail status when it comes to everyday sunscreen. Both Daily Eye Repair Emulsion and Evening Facial Serum are silicone based, so make sure you appreciate the gorgeous slippery texture. Infused with Retinol and Ferulic Acid (in addition to countless botanicals), the serum firms, brightens, and evens out skin tone that has fallen victim to the cruel effects of photoaging. Studded with vitamins, peptides, and plant extracts, the eye treatment is to be used day and night as it protects against free radical damage, hydrates, and diminishes signs of stubborn dark circles and puffiness.
