Quick Review: GLAMGLOW TROPICALCLEANSE Daily Exfoliating Cleanser

Chasing GLAMGLOW newness like it’s my job (sort of is, really), I couldn’t wait to try the newly unveiled TROPICALCLEANSE™ Daily Exfoliating Cleanser. When the mud-to-foam face washes launched circa 2014, I had been seeking a formula to complement my favorite Youthmud.

before & after

Gradually, each of the four washes were phased out and replaced by Galacticleanse and Supercleanse, neither one of which worked for me. The good news: the latest release is an eerily similar reincarnation of the new and improved Youthcleanse. I’m into it.

Details

Gentle enough to be used daily, the new TROPICALCLEANSE™ is creamy with a clay-like texture and slight grit. Massage it on wet skin and focus on areas that need more mechanical exfoliation (my T-zone, always). It foams up ever so slightly and rinses off in seconds. Luckily, the tiny resurfacing particles do not cling to my eyebrows. Hate that. TROPICALCLEANSE™ makes for a great morning cleanser or follow up to an oil or balm for those who double cleanse; it is not recommended as a makeup-remover. As with any exfoliating potion, it’s probably best to avoid the delicate area around the eyes.

What’s new?

This newcomer is comparable to the previous daily exfoliating option that was Youthcleanse. The upgrade features Purple Clay instead of French sea clay and exfoliating microalgae particles have been swapped for pomegranate seed powder in TROPICALCLEANSE™. The brand’s signature TEOXI™ technology returns with green tea leaf extract, which provides an extra boost of antioxidant protection. Back also are Quinoa, Apple, Papaya and Melon Extracts but the upgrade adds additional touches of AHAs (Maple Sugar and Cane Sugar) and BHA (Willow Bark Extract).

Thoughts.

Whether you’re among those who mourned the sudden disappearance of Youthcleanse or someone who enjoys the scent of Youthmud, the brand’s OG masterpiece, fans of GLAMGLOW will surely appreciate this new addition. The introduction of superfood ingredients (acai, acerola, goji berry, guarana, gingko) is a neat perk as is the travel friendly tube packaging. Is it my holy grail? No. Am I enjoying it daily? Very much so.
