Survey Says… – Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment

Oddly enough (and lucky me), I only think about my age on the actual day of my birthday. Today’s the day! So why not talk about the #1 anti-aging ingredient, Retinol? Having filled prescriptions with varying strengths courtesy of NYC dermatologists, shopped at Mexican pharmacies online, and dealt with the overload of over the counter options, I’m done. A month ago, I received Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment and I can state unequivocally that it’s the most effective and user friendly Retinol I have ever tried. #BoomClap

I first learned about the prescription strength retinoid, Tazorac in Jean Godfrey-June’s book ‘Free Gift With Purchase’ 8 years ago (a must read by the way). Wasting no time, I scored an Rx from my preferred dermatologist in the city. After 3 weeks, the peeling was intense but I enjoyed the fresh glow. Using Tazorac as an effective step in my routine proved to be exhausting though. Self-tanning was pointless, forgetting to wear SPF came with a price, and don’t get me started on the 15-20 minute wait necessary after applying it. I often fell asleep while my skin’s pH was equalizing to get ready for my night cream ritual. #AintNobodyGotTimeForThat

Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment uses an encapsulated time released formula that delivers results comparable to those of a prescription-strength retinoid. Retinol is not for everyone, so in order to find out if you’re a candidate (or to succeed), you need patience and you must begin slowly. Start with 3 nights a week and ease into an every other night routine. When applied correctly, you will avoid any peeling, redness, or irritation. This kind of efficacy with absolutely no downtime was a first for me. #BartsChoice

Retinol is the only ingredient that addresses fine lines, breakouts, pore size, hyperpigmentation, sun damage while at the same time improving the skin’s elasticity. Paula’s Choice Team has added Peptides and Vitamin C to their party mix. Dimethicone and glycerin make the formula glide on and absorb quickly. You can also easily mix the Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment with your favorite serum or moisturizer. Mix, match, and make it your own. #WorkIt

When you know what you’re doing, you can also experiment with Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol during the day. One crucial recommendation, however, is to ALWAYS wear an SPF greater than 15 since Retinol increases photosensitivity. Photosensitivity has nothing to do with selfies, by the way. It refers to the sensitivity to sunlight. Lay off using any Retinol product for a week before getting your eyebrows waxed. Trust me. #Scarface

With a forehead you can project movies on and the cutesy one eyebrow thing I do for every picture, I can appear rather angry or serious when I’m actually relaxed. The 40cc’s of Botox that would soften me up are no longer necessary since discovering Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment. It is also doing a great job on my pores as I continue using my other PC favorite 4% BHA Retexturizing Foaming Treatment. I am completely ok with looking my age so Happy Birthday to me! #AreYou?

Hi Bart! I just love products with retinol. What about the scent? Neutral? Or none?

Hey Bjorn! It’s free of fragrance so you get the signature ‘fragrance free’ scent if you know what I mean. Completely neutral and subtle. Hope this helps.

This sounds really good, wow! I’ve actually never tried a retinol product before but curious about it now after reading your post. 🙂
