Exfoliation For The Easily Iritated
For those who appreciate artisan-grade formulas, Votary is probably already on your radar. My first encounter with this London brand remains a highlight of my skincare journey. If you are new to Votary, the key context is this: the brand is best known for its Super Seed range, a thoughtful collection built around dry, sensitive, redness-prone, and reactive skin types. The Super Seed lineup recently expanded with the Sensitive Resurfacing Peel and as someone perpetually hunting for the next great exfoliator, I tried it immediately.

What is the Votary Sensitive Resurfacing Peel?
The Sensitive Resurfacing Peel is a rinse-off treatment that exfoliates the top layers of skin. It works as a weekly reset, sweeping away dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, smoother complexion. If you are dealing with uneven tone or stubborn hyperpigmentation, and you find glycolic or mandelic acid too intense, this is worth your attention.

How does it work?
The formula is powered by 10% lactic acid, the highest concentration permitted in the EU. Lactic acid is a gentle but effective AHA. It fades post-acne marks and sun spots, and unlike most acids it also hydrates as it exfoliates. Votary has paired it with soothing horse chestnut and their Super Seed complex: chia seed, quinoa, camu camu extracts, and more. The result is a peel that does real work without leaving skin red or compromised.

How to use it
Start with three minutes before rinsing off. Build up to 10 to 15 minutes over time, once a week. Even though the formula is designed for sensitive skin, a slow introduction is the right approach, especially if you have had bad experiences with other peels.
AHA formulas work well at night. If you use this in the morning, apply broad-spectrum SPF immediately after.

If you already use the Votary Daily Apple Toner for micro-exfoliation, you can pair it with the peel. I would recommend alternating weeks with the Radiance Reveal Mask rather than using all three in the same week.

First impressions
I applied two to three droppers and left it on for the full 15 minutes. The viscous liquid-gel consistency glides on cleanly without being drippy and sets softly within a couple of minutes. Around the seven-minute mark there was a faint tingle, brief and lasting only a few seconds. After 15 minutes I removed it with my Halo pad (saturated in warm water) and followed with a peptide serum and night cream.
The next morning, skin felt noticeably smoother and firmer. The overall impression was vibrant and healthy without any sensitivity. After the Votary Cleansing Cream, this peel is my second favourite in the Super Seed line.
