YASSSS! The Canadian dry skin authority, Skinfix has finally made its presence known stateside! With the brutal winter in full swing, the Hand Repair Cream and Body Repair Balm are working around the clock in this household. If you’re looking to soothe, heal, and winter proof your skin, the folks in Canada have you covered. They know the circumstances entirely too well.
When my skin hits the dry zone, it is a complete and utter beauty disaster. Resembling a train wreck, the dryness issue is always part of some cruel package deal. Discomfort and some flakiness can be hard to avoid in the middle of February. Throw in redness, irritation, itchiness and cracking, only Skinfix gets you out of the mess–and without a scratch.
The Hand Repair Cream from Skinfix is ultra rich, smooth, and creamy without feeling heavy or greasy. Soothing on contact, it contains 1% Colloidal Oatmeal, which makes it closer to medicinal grade than any over the counter product. Shea Butter, Sweet Almond, Sunflower and Jojoba Oils, Rice Bran, Aloe and Beeswax make this all natural salve long lasting and extremely effective. Packaged in a 2 oz tube with a flip top cap, this Skinfix formula belongs in every purse, glove compartment, and desk drawer.
The Skinfix Body Repair Balm is slightly heavier in consistency and with 2% Colloidal Oatmeal, it is a superb skin protectant. In addition to the ingredient deck reflective of the Hand Cream, the Body Balm is extra soothing with the addition of Soybean Oil, a powerful anti-irritant. Whether you’re battling chronically dry patches on your elbows or dealing with eczema or dermatitis, this formula is water free and highly concentrated. It’s transformative on your feet overnight under a pair of socks. Wear your worst pair though as this balm may stain fabric.
Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Skinfix brand was only just founded in 2006, but the family recipe for the original ointment has been passed on through generations since 1850. The ‘magic balm’ in Victorian England that rose to fame as a diaper rash cream centuries later in Canada has now become a range of dermatologist recommended skin saviors.
Available at Target and Ulta stores across the US, Skinfix products may appear pricey at first, considering their drugstore launch roots and positioning. These calming and protective formulas are loaded with all-natural ingredients and without steroids, fragrance, color, parabens and phthalates, however, which is something I always keep in mind.
Ultra Rich Hand Cream ($9.99) and Body Repair Balm ($17.99) along with a quickly growing Skinfix range are available at Ulta.com, Target.com and QVC.com.
This sounds good. Other than dry lips, I can simply not stand dry, unconditioned hands so I am NEVER without my favourite hand lotion. I dislike anything that leaves a greasy layer so if it absorbs well and physically dunks my hands in moisture heaven, its in my checkout basket! Doubt this is available in the UK though – I’ve never seen the brand here! 🙂
