Dr. Jart+ has just expanded its fan-favorite Ceramidin™ range with the addition of the Skin Barrier Moisturizing Eye Cream. Admittedly, I approached this launch with some skepticism after my lukewarm experience with the brand’s previous eye cream. However, after just a few days of testing, I can confidently say this new formula is a significant upgrade. Here’s everything you need to know about this revamped comeback.
What Is the Ceramidin™ Range All About?
The instantly recognizable yellow-and-white packaging of Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ products signals comfort, hydration, and barrier repair. This range is designed for anyone looking to prevent transepidermal water loss, soothe sensitive skin, and maintain a healthy, hydrated barrier. It’s essentially a universal remedy for moisture-starved skin.
While I’ve always loved the ethos of the Ceramidin™ range, the original eye cream fell short. Its lightweight lotion-like texture had a tendency to pill no matter how sparingly I applied it, and the overzealous pump dispenser made precise use nearly impossible. Add to that my disappointment with the reformulation of the Cica cleansing foam, and I decided to step away from the brand for a while.
Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to report that the Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Moisturizing Eye Cream is pretty stellar.
What Does the New Eye Cream Do?
This new formula zeroes in on two primary goals: providing deep hydration and soothing the delicate eye area. It’s an excellent choice for those just starting to incorporate an eye cream into their skincare routine, as well as anyone needing an extra boost of moisture to counteract dryness or a compromised skin barrier.
While marketed as suitable for all skin types, those with very oily skin or living in hot, humid climates may find it a bit heavy for daytime use. That said, it’s a fantastic option for nighttime, when its rich, nourishing texture can truly shine. Not literally but you know what I mean.
One standout feature is the formula’s ability to combat the effects of blue light on skin. For a deeper dive into blue light and its potential impact, I recommend reading Bryan Barron’s well-researched article on the topic over at Paula’s Choice.
What’s in the Ceramidin™ Eye Cream?
The formula is powered by Ceramide NP, a naturally occurring lipid in our skin that helps maintain its barrier function. As we age, our ceramide production declines, making topical supplementation essential for maintaining healthy skin. The addition of Panthenol (aka Vitamin B5) and Adenosine ensures rapid moisture level increase for a healthier, plumped up skin appearance.
Another key ingredient is Blumilight™, derived from Cocoa Seed Extract. This innovative compound targets blue light stress with a unique blend of cocoa peptides, saccharides, and polyphenols. According to Ashland, the developer of Blumilight™, it’s formulated to enhance skin’s resistance to blue light exposure in a hyper-connected, digital world.
User Experience and Results
This eye cream is a departure from my usual preferences, but I’m loving it. It has a rich, dense, almost buttery texture that melts into the skin on contact. Despite its balm-like consistency, it absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky residue.
What sets it apart for me is how well it performs as a prep step before concealer. It creates a smooth, hydrated base that helps the pigment stay put without creasing. A few tips: use a tiny amount, pat and press gently rather than rubbing, and manage expectations—it’s a great moisturizer but not a miracle worker.
If you’re curious about the Ceramidin™ range, I highly recommend the Serum Toner, my personal favorite after the sheet masks. For those who prefer lighter eye creams, the belif Aqua Bomb Depuffing Eye Gel is another excellent option, especially during summer—and it’s even more budget-friendly.
