A richer take on the original. Here's whether the upgrade is worth it.

If you keep up with skincare launches, you’ve probably noticed a growing trend: brands releasing richer versions of their existing eye creams. Whether it’s a response to customer feedback or an effort to cater to those who felt the original formula wasn’t enough, it’s becoming a common move. A few of my favorites have done the same recently—Augustinus Bader launched The Rich Eye Cream, and Dr. Few introduced his Eye Cream PM.
Jones Road follows suit with Rich Eye Cream, expanding its skincare lineup with a formula designed for even deeper hydration.

What Is It?
A more intensely moisturizing take on the original Eye Cream, this launch features a richer, more substantial texture aimed at replenishing and comforting dry, delicate skin. Ideal for those prone to dryness around the eyes, Rich Eye Cream helps rehydrate and plump the skin while creating smooth canvas for makeup. As always, Bobbi Brown delivers a multitasker—it works as both a daytime moisturizer under concealer or pencil and as an overnight treatment to combat signs of fatigue.

What’s in the new Jones Road Rich Eye Cream?
As a devoted skincare enthusiast, I’d argue this is the most sophisticated formula in the Jones Road skincare lineup. Centered around intense hydration, Rich Eye Cream is packed with Glycerin, Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Trehalose. To support the skin barrier—crucial for defending against daily environmental stressors—it also includes Ceramide NS and Phytosterols.

Antioxidant protection comes via Vitamin E and a blend of botanicals: Hibiscus Seed Oil, Ash Bark, French Rose, and Gentian Root Extracts. And for those looking for added brightness, Niacinamide makes an appearance, bringing its well-documented skin-evening benefits to the mix.

User Experience
The texture? I’m obsessed. It’s dense but exceptionally creamy, gliding onto the skin with a luxe grip that feels both indulgent and effective. A little goes a long way, so use a light hand when dipping into the jar. Overloading the eye area with too much product—whether day or night—is never a good idea, as excess moisture can migrate past the lash line and cause irritation.

I always start by applying a small dot to the outer corner (where crow’s feet form) and gently work my way inward, then upward toward the brow bone, using a tapping motion to distribute the product evenly. Initially, you’ll feel it sitting on the skin, but within a minute, it absorbs beautifully. Keep in mind the rich formula does not dry matte and there is a very slight hint of sheen. It provides a noticeable moisture grip without feeling sticky or heavy. Personally, this is going straight into my PM routine.
If your eye area is especially dry, you may enjoy using Rich Eye Cream during the day as well. Just be sure to give it a minute or two to settle before applying any color corrector or concealer.

Do You Need It?
That depends. If you love the original Eye Cream but wish it delivered more moisture, this is the upgrade you’ve been waiting for. Otherwise, there’s no need to double up. Those who prefer straightforward, hydration-focused formulas will appreciate it, while Jones Road fans who gravitate toward practical skincare (rather than marketing gimmicks) will likely welcome this addition. If you’re a realist who embraces aging, and given the choice of a free spa treatment, you’d pick a body massage over a facial—this one’s for you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Jones Road Eye Cream and Rich Eye Cream?
The formulas are meaningfully different beyond just texture. The original Eye Cream is built around a simpler emollient base — macadamia oil, cetearyl olivate, and trehalose — focused on straightforward hydration. The Rich Eye Cream adds Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Ceramide NS for deeper moisture and barrier support, plus Niacinamide for brightening and a botanical blend of Hibiscus Seed Oil, French Rose, Ash Bark, and Gentian Root for antioxidant protection. It's a significantly more sophisticated formula. If the original felt sufficient, stick with it. If you wanted more, this delivers it.
Is Jones Road Rich Eye Cream good for dry skin?
It's ideal for dry skin around the eyes. The formula is built around Glycerin, Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Trehalose — a serious hydration stack — supported by Ceramide NS and Phytosterols to strengthen the skin barrier.
How do you apply Jones Road Rich Eye Cream?
Start with a small dot at the outer corner where crow's feet form and work inward, then upward toward the brow bone using a gentle tapping motion. Give it a minute to absorb before applying concealer or color corrector. A little goes a long way — use a light hand.
Does Jones Road Rich Eye Cream work under concealer?
It does, but the original Eye Cream is the better daytime choice for most people. Its lighter texture settles faster and creates a cleaner base for concealer or color corrector. Reserve the Rich Eye Cream for nighttime unless your under-eye area is severely dry — in which case apply sparingly, give it a full minute or two to set, and use less product than you think you need. The rich texture can migrate past the lash line if over-applied.
Can you use Jones Road Rich Eye Cream as a mask?
Yes — Bobbi Brown recommends applying a thicker layer to the under-eye area and leaving it on for 10 to 15 minutes as a quick flash mask to recharge dehydrated skin. Wipe off the excess afterward. It's a great pre-event treatment when your eye area needs an instant boost.
Is Jones Road Rich Eye Cream worth it?
At $42 for 15ml it's one of the more accessible luxury eye creams on the market. If you're a Jones Road loyalist who wanted more from the original Eye Cream, this delivers. If the original formula already works for you, stick with it.
