When my insatiable pursuit of newness resulted in a jar of Sunday Riley Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm last week, it was no small victory. We are talking months of instagram stalking. Wishing and hoping is for amateurs. All kidding aside, this latest launch from one of the hottest brands in the beauty industry today is finally here and I’ve never been this excited about washing my face!
A favorite of everyone and their mother, cleansing balms may be the fastest growing skincare category. Offering a gentle cleanse, they effectively remove impurities as they nourish the skin with botanicals that often double as exhilarating aromatherapy. Featuring all that and a sexy hue of blue, the latest Sunday Riley formula varies slightly from that with which I’ve gotten comfortable–and it’s not a bad thing.
The Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm has a dense texture that reminds me of Clinique’s Take the Day Off. While I find everything about the Clinique product ‘meh’, I cannot stop using the new Sunday Riley. Somewhat gritty in consistency, Blue Moon is fueled by Sugar based cleansers. Even though you’ll feel the tiny crystals when scooping it out, they quickly melt away as you massage the balm into your face. Extremely soothing, it contains essential oils of Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, and Beeswax. With added skin brightening benefits of Clementine Petitgrain, it also includes moisture rich Moringa and Cocoa Butters as well as Squalane. Delectable notes of Tangerine and Vanilla make this luxurious balm truly tranquil.
Phenomenal at removing makeup and grime, it turns milky after contact with water and rinses off like a dream, leaving you perfectly cleansed, soft, and glowing. Geared towards those with dry, dehydrated, stressed, or mature skin, it is working out great as a first cleanse on my combination complexion. On days your skin is looking dull or feels particularly parched, leave it on for twenty minutes because Blue Moon is also superb as a deep moisture recovery mask. Love the slim packaging and am secretly hoping for a travel friendly jar in a carry-on size.
Since I am on a total Sunday Riley roll, my Fall skincare wardrobe update also includes Flora and Bionic! Yay!
Flora’s full name is Flora Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil and she’s full of herself. Loaded with French, Bulgarian, and Turkish Rose Essential Oils as well as Primrose, Pomegranate, Chia, Wild Carrot, and Tomato Seed Oils, this luxurious blend delivers superior antioxidant protection. Firming and deeply hydrating, it feels so lush going on; it is bound to be a favorite winter indulgence. A much needed cushion of moisture after deep exfoliation or an intense peel pad, Flora is rich, silky and comforting. As a dry oil, it penetrates deep and absorbs within seconds. Love her.
A cold weather upgrade in the PM department, I’ve been having great success with the Bionic Anti-Aging Cream, which has become my overnight treatment of choice the past few weeks. Deceivingly lightweight, this elegant almost-lotion is packed with EGCG, Retinol, Resveratrol, Copper Peptides, and CoQ10. Restoring and redensifying, this potent blend boosts collagen production and leaves the skin smoother, plumper, hydrated, and significantly brighter. Between the convenient pump dispenser and a pleasant scent that reminds me of candy, Bionic is a real treat to use. Suggested for normal to dry skin types. Great in bed.

Aww bart aren’t you the best at taking amazing photos! Love your little quirks about each product 🙂
You’ve successfully won me over with at least the cleansing balm and Flora for my barneys list for Spring 16 bag event.

You will LOVE Flora – it’s superb. The balm is different than many I got used to but it sure will come in handy in warmer months when everything else melts away! Hope you enjoy!
I really want this now! As much as I agree that Take The Day Off is meh (colourless, fragrance free, looks and feels like what margarine might if they didn’t put the colour and flavour in) it is effective – especially with the old waterproof mascara. What I really like about TTDO though is it doesn’t melt at temps over 30ºC (yesterday was 39 here and I can’t be storing all my many cleansers in the fridge for about 4 months of the year). If Sunday’s cleanser is the same consistency I’m sold. I can only imagine how lovely it smells. And then that blue! And the packaging!
Alas, there is only one store that sells Sunday Riley in Australia and they aren’t selling it yet 🙁
