Completely underrated, water is a crucial element in our daily diets. Our bodies consist of roughly 60% water, so we need to constantly replenish if we are to maintain, improve, and accelerate its functions. H2O offers myriad benefits that cover both inner and outer beauty. Literally. Thou shall never underestimate the power of water.

Why did I gravitate towards SOMA? No, not just the Facebook ads. Visually pleasing, the Soma design is top notch. Creative, innovative, and stylish, the options include a carafe, which holds six glasses of water or a pitcher with a ten glass capacity. Putting aside its eye candy factor, the unique filter features coconut shell carbon and plant casing and removes chlorine and pollutants for the crispiest tasting water in the world. Impressive all around if you ask me. The shatter proof glass carafe looks chic whether you place it in the fridge, on the counter (some like their water room temp), or right on the table during dinner. It refills easily via the push down lid on top and replacement filters arrive magically at your door. Did I mention that SOMA donates to charity:water with every filter purchase? I’m sorry, Brita WHO? #GirlBye!

So while I’m not a doctor (a handwriting expert would disagree), I can never have enough water and here’s why:

  1. Hydration. Basically life altering. Whether you’re a little bit thirsty or 97% parched, you’re no fun. Your overall mood is greatly improved with each glass of water.
  2. Complexion. Hydrated body equals hydrated skin and that means a plump, radiant, happy face. Drink water, don’t look weathered.
  3. Dark circles under the eyes. While technically hereditary, the uncle Fester look can be significantly improved with a stellar water intake.
  4. Ice Baby. Total beauty blogger moment but I often glide an ice cube over my face after using a cleanser. It stimulates microcirculation, tightens the pores, and firms up the skin before a moisturizer. Think mini cryotherapy for the face.
  5. Calories. No, drinking water won’t make you lose weight but if you have a glass of water before a meal, you reduce the temptation to overeat.
  6. Happy Hour. Nothing tempts me more than a BOGO on drinks but alternate a cocktail with a glass of water to avoid getting wasted too fast and to prevent a hangover. If you’re flying, have two cups of water for every Tito’s. Hopefully, you have an isle seat.
  7. Cocktailing. Since we’re exploring this in-depth, substitute the sugary mix with seltzer in your drink and muddle or garnish it with fresh fruit. Major calorie cut down.
  8. Hangover. So you failed #6, but if you drink your body weight in water (or so it will feel), you will flush out the toxins and your headache will pass. A bagel helps.
  9. Detox. When I’m feeling very Gwyneth, I squeeze a lemon into a glass of water first thing in the morning to get rid of toxins and prep that bod for the day ahead. Full disclosure: I don’t love the taste but I feel amazing until lunchtime.
  10. The real deal. While I can think of dozens more reasons to stay hydrated, I’ll end here. Water energizes the muscles, balances body fluids, maintains a clean colon, and helps purify the kidneys. All super important.
