Pixi Peel & Polish – Resurfacing Concentrate (that you’re getting)

Known for its trendy and affordable color options, Pixi is still probably most famous for the iconic Glow Tonic. With the glycolic game strong, it is no surprise that the Skintreats empire has grown significantly over the last couple of years. Fans of resurfacing formulas, take note of the recently launched Peel & Polish. If you’re after a brightening exfoliator under twenty five bucks, look no further.

What is it?

The new Peel & Polish does not replace the acid fueled formulas that gained Pixi their cult following, but rather complements seamlessly any skincare routine. A rinse off option for those in need of a quick radiance boost, this scrub mask hybrid delivers the results of a peel through a clever blend of acids and enzymes.

What’s in it?

Multi-faceted would be the perfect way to describe the new Pixi Peel & Polish. This triple threat is actually a somewhat gritty paste that begins as physical exfoliant. Most importantly, it also features Lactic Acid and Papaya Enzyme to help you achieve that summer glow. The best way to understand what is meant by chemical exfoliation: acids remove dead and living cells; enzymes remove only the dead cells. Always keep in mind that enzymes stop working within a few minutes. Acids, in contrast, must be rinsed off or neutralized to avoid irritation.

How & When

Massage an amount approximately the size of a quarter into clean, dry skin while applying gentle pressure for about 30 seconds. Leave on for 2 minutes and then rinse. Without causing any burning or tingling, and delivering a fresh, clean cucumber aroma as a perk, this universal peel option is the best product you’ll find at Target. It is suitable to use morning or night. Be sure you follow up with broad spectrum SPF of at least 30 during the day or with a nourishing moisturizer at bedtime.

Yay or Nay?

Personally, I’m thrilled with the Pixi Resurfacing Concentrate. The immediate smoothness is impressive and a month in, I am noticing improved skin tone and texture. Sinkside and shower friendly, the slim tube is also a great fit to my travel bag. While I moved on from the Glow Tonic over a year ago (the Biologique Recherche P50 1970 has been a huge step up), the Peel & Polish may just have found a permanent spot in my stash.

$24 (80ml tube) available at pixibeauty.com, target.com, dermstore.com
