The Serum To Pick Up This Summer: Herbivore Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion

After a number of impressive acid toner launches (tarte, REN, and Glossier all spring immediately to mind), it is so refreshing to see a resurfacing serum arrive on the clean beauty scene and to receive a unison of five star reviews. If you haven’t yet had the chance to try the new Herbivore Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion, add it to your Sephora cart immediately. That is, except for those of you who aren’t seeking brighter, more even toned and glowing skin this summer. In which case… rude.

What is Prism?

The latest Herbivore launch may be the easiest addition to incorporate into any skincare routine. Literally ‘juiced up’, the Aloe Vera, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Rose Water base provides a mega cushion of hydration that will instantly give you plumped up, bouncy looking skin. Now, the glow happens. Infused with a 5% fruit derived medley, Prism features , Malic, Lactic, Glycolic, and Citric Acids from Apple, Bilberry, Sugarcane, and Orange respectively.

The combination of Alpha Hydroxy Acids with the side perk of BHA delivers gentle exfoliation, while Willow Bark penetrates on a deeper level and dissolves surface oils that can clog pores. There is no tingle, redness, nor stickiness. Prism feels like a hydrating serum with benefits that absorbs in record time. It has a clean, botanical aroma; kinda sublime.

How & When?

Prism is lightweight enough that it can be used AM or PM. Personally, I opt for the morning right under my sunscreen (always follow up with broad spectrum SPF since AHAs make your skin more susceptible to sunburn) but if I make it part of my evening routine, I skip additional exfoliants such as scrubs or pads and slot Prism in between my cleanser and face oil.

For those who tend to cocktail their serums, I recommend applying a thin layer of Prism undiluted. It’s gentle enough to deliver smooth and glowing skin and shouldn’t be buffered with your other anti-aging potions. I always find that acid formulas perform best solo. Since introducing Prism to my routine a few weeks ago, I’ve noticed a brighter, more even toned complexion. It also pairs well with Lapis, which I enjoy using at night, especially during warm weather. The glass dropper bottle is very on brand chic. If you’re looking for a non-aggressive AHA/BHA treatment serum, give this one a try.
