Projecting downtown cool with his Fifth Avenue practice, Dr. David Colbert is always remarkably low key when it comes to his launches. Days ago, Retensify Firming Cream joined the tightly edited Colbert MD range and the latest formula is the anti-aging solution for anyone in need of a lift with a side of radiance. Back in May, along with one of my favorite people in the industry, Beauty Gypsy, I stopped by New York Dermatology Group to learn about this release from the man behind the brand himself. The verdict? Rationing my jar.
Full disclosure: I’m super into the Colbert MD line. From its chic aesthetic to its delivering on every promise, these high end and high tech treatments are both straightforward and impressive. If you’re familiar with the brand, you may have picked up on a constant across the range: every product is surprisingly lightweight and breathable yet performs at seriously heavy duty levels.
Retensify is no exception. Creamy and airy, the whipped texture of this firming potion is perfection. Add a fresh floral botanical aroma and extraordinary absorbing ability and the uber moisturizer is officially here. Why do I love it? While sagging and loss of firmness aren’t major concerns just yet, finding an anti-aging medley to prevent these issue is at the top of my list. Its dreamy consistency allows for layering over a serum (and OMG if you’re looking for one, I have one word for you: Stimulate), under SPF during the day or a richer facial oil at bedtime (hate to be redundant but Illumino is worth investigating). Another huge perk is how well Retensify does around the neck and decollete area. Because gravity.
So, what is in this magical new addition to Colbert MD? Hydroxyproline aka a crucial enzymatic element of collagen so the skin stays soft and supple, Tremella Mushroom Extract, which stimulates the production of moisture binding Hyaluronic Acid, soothing Glycyrrhetinic Acid, nourishing Goji Berry, brightening Vitamin C and antioxidant rich Alpha Lipoic Acid.
