Among the benefits of giving up the streets of New York City for the unpaved roads of the countryside, has been my experiencing things I had only heard about before. One of them is the Sonia Kashuk brand, who through her exclusive with Target adds prestige to the suburban beauty landscape. Her Radiant Tinted Moisturizer has been one of my favorite drugstore buys for the last couple of years.
And then someone decided the formula needed to be improved.
Named Radiant+ Tinted Moisturizer after the upgrade, this Sonia Kashuk formula is sadly not scoring many pluses with me. It may with you, however, as my checklist for a perfect tinted moisturizer is very exacting. The previous version was extremely lightweight with sheer coverage that left a slightly dewy finish. It blended seamlessly, giving an effect of natural yet radiant, even skin tone. These fantastic qualities were just a few reasons its performance rivaled that of its high end counterparts.
The updated variation differs significantly from the original and it is no longer my Target favorite. With much heavier coverage, Radiant+ leans more towards a foundation than a lightweight tinted moisturizer, which in its previous incarnation was amazingly breathable. Sadly for me, it no longer spreads as smoothly; the finish went from dewy to chalky.
In spite of its reformulation, the Sonia Kashuk Radiant+ Tinted Moisturizer uses the same names for each of its five shades available. While the names are familiar, the actual hues are quite different. From flush of color to punch of color, my favorite shade ‘Honey’ is now more ‘Honey Boo Boo’ than anything else. Just a thought but if you change both formula and packaging, you may want to consider changing the names of the colors…
Staying true to my authentic, optimistic, enthusiastic voice, I want to salute Sonia Kashuk Radiant+ Tinted Moisturizer for what I consider to be a huge packaging improvement. The new moisturizer now comes in a shorter tube with a flip top cap that is completely mess-free. The size of the product has remained the same as has the bonus of broad spectrum SPF 15. Worth noting as well, the price remains just as budget friendly at under $15 a tube.
