For as long as I can remember, I’ve associated the Perricone MD skincare line with potent, doctor-recommended, formulas that dramatically firm and brighten the skin. Personally speaking, Cold Plasma Plus+ and Growth Factor serums have delivered pleasing results. The most recent launch from the brand takes a softer but no less assertive approach with the goals of repairing compromised skin barrier. With a side of Dr Perricone’s signature anti-aging perks, of course. The new Hypoallergenic Clean Correction range qualifies technically as a re-launch and replaces two sensitive skin friendly collections from prior years: one powered by Olive Polyphenols and one by CBD.
What is Clean Correction all about?
Perfectly tailored for those with reactive, redness-prone, and overall sensitive complexions, the new Hypoallergenic line boasts the most gentle formulas from the brand. Each product shares a common goal: to balance, repair, and nourish the skin without disrupting the precious microbiome. The initial launch included a cleanser, moisturizer, and an eye cream. Just this week, the brand added a serum and shaving cream. The overview below is limited to coverage of the first three items. Noteworthy detail: the entire range is fragrance-free.
Gentle Cleanser
In a word: wow. The new Gentle Cleanser is a dream. It’s a low-foaming, opaque gel that removes dirt and excess oil while keeping the skin comfortably hydrated. Over the last few weeks, I’ve tried it on both dry and wet skin. It works both ways, but I prefer applying it on damp skin (I keep it in the shower).
Ingredients worth a callout include Fermented Rice Water (boosts radiance by brightening the skin), Glycerin (prevents transepidermal water loss), Holy Basil Extract (super soothing and anti-inflammatory), Lactobacillus Ferment (probiotic), and Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil (soothing and calming). Big props for a hefty size upright tube with a flip top cap. I am loving this one. $39 (6 oz)
Barrier Repair Nourishing Moisturizer
At first, the new Perricone MD Clean Correction moisturizer feels surprisingly lightweight. It is, however, very nourishing and has provided hours of moisture to my combination skin. The silky texture does feel a tiny bit occlusive but not heavy, slippery, or greasy. I’d say it creates a cushiony shield that supports the bouncy feeling to the skin.
It is also packed with skin firming Peptides, Ceramides, and Bisabolol as well as Brown Algae, Chaga Mushroom, Beet Root, and Adzuki Bean Extracts. If your skin tends to flare up unexpectedly, this formula can calm down redness very effectively. Suitable for day or night, it has worked out great for me either way: under sunscreen (AM) and over retinol (PM). $75 (50ml)
Firming & Brightening Eye Cream
Very surprised by this formula. It’s creamy but not dense, glides on the delicate skin around the eyes very smoothly, and absorbs fairly quickly. It’s way too soon to report on any brightening effects but I can tell you this: when worn during the day, my concealer doesn’t pill or crease before lunch. Dare I say, it provides a slightly tightening effect–something I very much appreciate.
This upgraded Clean Correction eye treatment is powered by Peptides, Squalane, Chaga Mushroom, Caffeine, Licorice Root, Cucumber, and Black Cumin Seed Extracts. If you prefer medium-weight creamy textures with a silky finish, I’d absolutely recommend you give it a try. For those with no sensitivities to more potent solutions, pick up the CCC + Ferulic treatment instead. $75 (15ml)
