Clarins Double Serum The Next Generation is the Cult Classic’s Best Re-Launch to Date

When it comes to 2017 upgrades in the skincare world, the recent re-launch of Clarins Double Serum might just qualify as my personal favorite. I dread the reformulation of any cult classic, which includes this very serum since I liked close to nothing about Generation 6. With that said, I’ll admit the latest one has worked well for me these past five years.This new release caused excitement and anxiety. Having experienced this freshly updated anti-ager for a month, I am thrilled to report…it’s pretty phenomenal!

So what’s changed?

Known already for its proprietary medley of 20 botanicals, Clarins adds a boost of Turmeric Extract to the core ingredient deck in The Double Serum to create the Next Generation formula. Rich in antioxidants, it also boasts healing, brightening and anti-inflammatory properties which help optimize skin’s vital functions (regenerating, oxygenation, nutrition, hydration and protection). Firming and fortifying, the ingredient deck also highlights Goji, Beautyberry, Horse Chestnut, Teasel and Banana Extracts among others.

Featuring its signature dual-chamber delivery system, the latest launch houses ⅔ of the hydric and ⅓ of lipidic ingredient blends that activate upon dispensing. Great for all skin types, the lightweight and surprisingly non-oily texture sinks in within seconds.

Custom Drops

Possibly my favorite design improvement: the new custom application pump. Simply twist the top and choose a small or full droplet for a lighter or more intense dose. Perfect for daytime, the smaller ‘shot’ is great for daytime and layers beautifully under sunscreen. It is also a great option for those with oilier skin. At bedtime, I opt for the larger droplet and follow with an oil or cream, especially when my skin craves extra moisture.

Final Thoughts

Recognizing my positive bias (I’ve enjoyed the Double Serum and its water/oil concept for exactly fifteen years), I find the new and improved formula truly outstanding. In a world oversaturated with facial oils and hydrating serums, Clarins continues to raise the bar on single step solutions by utilizing the latest in technology and consistently innovating its ingredient deck. Double Serum receives a major two thumbs up from me.
