You know you’re pushing the season when you switch to a darker tint and up your SPF to 50. With snow still on the ground. It’s mid-March. Maybe I’m feeling desperate. Or delusional. I broke into my AMOREPACIFIC CC cream over the weekend because the thermometer hit 54 degrees so, you know… #heatwave.
I felt forced to explore the world beyond tinted moisturizers to keep up with the madness when BB creams launched. CC were next. And, soon after that, double D (so wrong). Then, philosophy skipped ahead and with their ‘done and done’ attitude launched the ‘a to z cream.’ I’d say 90% of them were either too ashy or too chalky on me.
I’m very fussy when it comes to tinted anything. I don’t need heavy coverage; I need a subtle hint of color to even out what peptides and other skin care actives can’t fix. I know it cannot be yellow based because I have more of a pinkish tone. Nothing orange. Always a shade darker. Otherwise I look like I’m about to lip-sync for my life on RuPaul’s Drag Race. And sashay away.

The compact itself is pretty sturdy and travels very well. The puff applicator is not a traditional puff as it’s made of non-absorbent material, so you never waste any product. It is also cooling to the touch. You dip the non-puffy puff into the very fine pre-soaked sponge and apply directly on cleansed skin. Sounds complex. It’s not.
Having had a facial at the AMOREPACIFIC spa in Soho (which closed its doors after 10 years last October #WHY?) and having purchased their products in the past, this CC cream is the brand’s perfect reflection – full on luxury. Hydration is delivered with their bamboo sap formula, green tea antioxidants help with brightening, and their proprietary color technology provides long lasting coverage. It wins on every level.
It’s one of a very few staples you need if you’re going for the model off duty look. Its sheer coverage with a subtly dewy finish makes you look like you have nothing on. Yet you glow. It’s a very light formula with an intoxicating scent and provides broad SPF protection against both UVA and UVB rays. It covers it all. Literally.
At $60, it is very much appreciated that the compact comes with an extra hermetically sealed refill. I blindly ordered the 204 Tan Gold shade online and I’m obviously wasting my talent as a clairvoyant because it’s a perfect match.
