I can’t believe that I’ve turned into a person who constantly talks about the weather. This winter, however, has been a stage five clinger. I actually considered going to a tanning salon but then realized it’s 2014. Do they still exist? #oldschool
I was looking for something under my sink the other day (a life?) and came across one of my summer favorites. So, I broke all the rules and took my Elemis frangipani monoi body oil out. Just so for a brief moment, I could experience the scent of summer.
Elemis is a luxury British spa and skincare brand that offers a range of favorites among beauty editors all over the world. They make one of the best face washes out there, but that’s another post altogether. I’m a fan of many items across the brand, but the item I associate most with summer and sunshine is their frangipani monoi body oil.
The body oil consists mostly of coconut oil and features the intoxicating scent of frangipani. Also known as plumeria, the flower is native to Central and South Americas, Mexico and the Caribbean. It is most fragrant at night. Me too.
This product solidifies in cooler temperatures but it only takes a minute to run the bottle under hot water to get the oil back to its liquid form. Its glass bottle with the petite metal top is pretty chic and looks great in the bathroom. Packaging matters. You can judge me, too. It’s cool.
I keep my frangipani oil in the shower and apply it directly on damp skin before patting myself dry with a bath towel. It provides instant hydration and seals in moisture so focus on the areas that need a little TLC. I pay extra attention to my elbows and knees.
Its alluring scent lingers and I love that it does. It takes me back to the best summers, the hottest days and amazing trips. It even takes me back to summers in the eighties when I visited Italy as a kid. I remember every sunscreen (which was SPF 4 or simply a tanning oil) smelling strangely similar to the Elemis frangipani monoi oil. #olfactorymemory
Twice a year, I have my hair straightened at a local Japanese salon, (I’m so global!) which can leave me with dry ends. This oil works tremendously well as a deep conditioning treatment. You’re welcome.
Elemis promises to keep their elixirs free of parabens, SLS, SLES, DEA, mineral oils and artificial fragrances. The 100ml bottle of frangipani monoi body oil retails for $53 but you’re so much better off with a boxed gift set including an additional full size shower cream for $60 ($95 value). #obvi
I’ve used some Elemis products before which was so-so for me but I’ve never tried any body products. I seriously hate dry skin so I moisturise all the time but I’ve never been brave to go near a body oil. I am always worried it will mess up my clothes!

OMG I so hear you. I use body oils on days when I don’t wear clothes usually. 😛
P.S. Their try-enzyme face wash is superb for my skin. Absolutely love it! 🙂
