Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse – Review & Giveaway

Now very difficult to find, the Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse has flown off Target’s shelves based on the increased instagram activity from many skincare enthusiasts. Since the store closest to me is the least oriented beauty destination, I was lucky enough to have found it on a recent run. Coincidentally, Pixi sent their massive collaboration inspired gift the next day, which included another jar. So…. one of you is getting a free Double Cleanse! Keep reading!

Caroline Hirons, the beauty aficionado and double cleanse advocate from across the pond, has made very public her passion for and affiliation with Pixi by Petra over recent years. A huge ambassador for the brand’s iconic Glow Tonic, the much anticipated collaborative launch of Double Cleanse is the industry step long awaited by many of Caroline’s followers. Below is the scoop.

K-Beauty (sort of) by Pixi

Made in Korea, the dual chamber formula houses Solid Cleansing Oil and Cleansing Cream, which becomes a two step, end-of-day ritual to remove makeup, dirt, excess oil, SPF and environmental pollutants. Completely no-nonsense, the straightforward concept ensures proper cleansing and preps your face for any and all skincare treatments that precede bedtime.

First, apply the solid balm to a dry face. As it liquifies from the temperature of your body, it melts away even the most stubborn waterproof color and sunscreen. I like to soak a soft washcloth (or ‘flannel’ as Brits would say) in hot water, wring it out, and lay it across my face for a few seconds. Remove the oil and repeat the process with the Cleansing Cream.

Ingredient Highlights

Textures, smells, performance.

Those bothered by fragrance in skincare are in luck! The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse is completely unscented and won’t trigger any scent related sensitivities. I personally prefer to unwind at the end of the day with the aromatic experience provided in the Emma Hardie or ELEMIS cleansing balm formulas, but for fans of the unscented Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm, Step 1 of the Double Cleanse is similar in both texture and performance.

The Cleansing Cream (Step 2) is surprisingly my favorite of the two. Whipped to perfection, the fluffy solution does its great job as a gentle yet effective cleanse and leaves the skin soft and comfortable. Though it claims nourishing and anti-aging properties, be sure to follow up with a serum (if you use one) and moisturizer. Love the true soft cream consistency.

Packaging, etc.

Visually pleasing, the heavy gauge plastic container looks like glass, which gives off major vanity vibes. The Pixi branding is on point and when paired with Caroline Hiron’s practical perfection, Double Cleanse is a great option for those exploring the cleansing method or wanting to incorporate an effective skincare solution into their routine.

One thing about the swivel shaped compartment divider though… the Cleansing Cream migrates into the Solid Cleansing Oil regardless of how careful you are. Wipe the inner lid clean and press it back down gently after each use. I searched for a mini spatula in the box, but no luck. You also supply your own washcloth.

Giveawayyyyyy

But the above are both nitpicks. Comment below with your favorite Pixi formula or any of their Skin Treats that you think I should try next for a chance to win a brand new, full size jar of Double Cleanse! US entries only, please. I will announce and contact the winner on February 14th!

Retail: $24 (2 x 50ml jar) at Target.com, pixibeauty.com.

I’ve only ever tried their Glow Tonic. It’s decent for a first time user, but I think we both know there are way better aha/bha options out there!

Unfortunately I haven’t tried any Pixi skincare aside from Glow Tonic, but I love their Flawless&Poreless Primer.

I use the Pixi Cleansing Balm, which I really love. It does have a scent from the almond oil but it’s not over powering. Also their multi-balm sticks are great!

I had never tried any of Pixi’s products until this double cleanse. I read Caroline’s blog and was really excited to try it. Love how easily it removes makeup and doesn’t leave my face feeling dry or tight.

I love so many Pixi products! But if I had to choose, I’d say the Milky Mist… there is just something so special about it!

H2O Skindrink and Glowtion Day Dew. One squirt of each, mixed together, is one of my favorite cold-weather moisturizing steps.

I’ve only tried Pixi Glow Tonic but I wish I could try this Double Cleanse! I already implement a double cleansing routine with oil cleanser followed by a creamy cleanser. Would be curious to see how her 2-1 product works and if it will fast-track my 10-step+ otherwise Asian skincare routine. Thanks for the giveaway!

Amazingly I’ve only tried Pixi makeup but nothing the skincare line yet and I just love their Eyebright Liner that makes look like I’ve had a full night’s sleep when I haven’t. Thanks for the opportunity!

I would recommend Glam glow toner and sleep madk from Pixi.. this is my 3rd purchase of them. Soo good and reasonably priced. I convinced the cashier at Target to get them instead of advertising for “another brand” that she was trying to sell. Lol
