Paula’s Choice Peptide Booster – And what *are* peptides anyway?

So much more than an industry buzzword, peptides are among a handful of the most effective anti-aging ingredients in skincare. So while I needed another serum like I needed a hole in my head, I quickly made room for Paula’s Choice Peptide Booster. A huge fan of the 10% Niacinamide and Retinol boosters, I’ve enhanced my existing routine with the Peptide Booster and have found it to be both accommodating and user friendly. Not to mention, pretty effortless.

So… what are peptides exactly?

Without getting too science-y, here’s the scoop:

  • peptides are short chains of amino acids
  • amino acids are the building blocks of protein
  • collagen is a protein
  • collagen makes your skin plump and radiant
  • our bodies produce collagen but this process slows down significantly starting in our mid 20’s
  • peptides stimulate collagen production, so your skin stays plumper longer

Booster Realness

Combining EIGHT different peptides that address and correct loss of firmness, dullness, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation issues, the Peptide Booster is one of the most straightforward (and impressive) formulas I have come across to date. The cornucopia of gravity fighting ingredients also includes amino acids, antioxidants, and skin restoring agents. In short, it’s a quintessential addition to everyone’s regimen. Sort of a non-negotiable really.

after BHA, before Retinol

How & When

Literally no rules. Suitable for every skin type, the Peptide Booster is a seamless addition to your morning or evening routine. You can actually use it twice a day. Depending on your preference, you can either cocktail a few drops into your favorite moisturizer or enjoy a dropper full directly on your face like I do. Follow with a Retinol treatment at bedtime. Never skip the neck. Ever.

super lightweight

Those loyal to any Paula’s Choice BHA formula (RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment in my case) should use the Peptide Booster after an exfoliant. When you opt for Retinol, layer the Peptide Booster on beforehand. Always wear broad spectrum sunscreen over your Booster during the day.

SPF. Always.

Why I love it:

The silky liquigel texture has a subtle slip and absorbs flawlessly with zero stickiness. Gentle (in spite of its aggressive firming performance), hydrating, and free of fragrance, it is also safe when applied around the eyes. And, since that is my main area of concern, this Paula’s Choice Booster just scored some extra points. Results wise, I’m sporting brighter and healthier skin. The blotchiness is definitely fading, which I notice especially after waking up each morning.
