Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum

It’s only been a minute since Glow Recipe blessed our skins with the gorgeous Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm. A few days ago, the K-beauty Glow Gang expanded its juicy line up with the launch of Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum. Since the summer is coming to an end, could this whole thing be timed any better? Just when I’m about to switch the  A/C from full blast to heat ‘on’ in both the car and at home, my complexion is in need of all the plumping hydration it can get. Because nothing sucks hydration from the skin more aggressively than indoor heat. Quick review of this latest below!

What is it?

Plum Plump is a silky liquigel serum that is formulated to plump, hydrate, and rejuvenate dull, dehydrated complexions. It’s suitable for all skin types, has a faint fruity aroma (which I find barely noticeable), and absorbs almost instantly. Since this new serum is also oil-free, it slots seamlessly into your AM or PM regimen since other steps layer really well over Plum Plump. Also, cute ass packaging.

What’s in it?

The latest Glow Recipe launch is focused on delivering an abundance of hydration, antioxidant protection, and overall radiance. How do they do it? The formula highlights a blend of five multi-weight molecules of Hyaluronic Acid (personally speaking up to now, I believe four was the highest HA formula I’ve seen) and includes ultra-low, low, medium, high, and ultra-high strains of this skin plumping ingredient. This ensures penetration into the skin at different levels and delivers both instant and lasting hydration. It’s as if your skin is casually sipping a hydrating smoothie all day long. No sugar tho.

Inspired by antioxidant-rich fruit, the brand extracts from three varieties of the namesake treat—Kakadu, Illawarra, and Burdekin—to nourish, rejuvenate, and protect. In order to deliver the maximum plumping promise, the serum also contains Silk Proteins and Vegan Collagen. Add some Tremella Mushroom (for even more hydration) Vitamin B5 (skin conditioning) and Blue-Green Algae Extract (a skin superfood, really), and the only thing more well-rounded than this ingredient deck is… a plum.

How and When?

You apply Plum Plump after cleansing and toning but before your moisturizer. That’s after Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Toner (which my skin absolutely loves) but before your sunscreen or night cream. I’ve said it before: I find mixing a Hyaluronic Acid serum with a face oil a great cocktail for my combination skin. By doing it this way, the oil formula will absorb significantly more  quickly. As a minimalist, I’m applying Plum Plump prior to selecting my sleeping mask and when I’m about to call it a night.

Since I’m a fan of the Watermelon Glow Pink Juice moisturizer, I wondered at first if I’d need both. It turns out that I am enjoying Plum Plump so much, it may just replace my bottle of Pink Juice. FYI: it is not meant to replace your moisturizer (since it’s a serum), but, for my skin, layering multiple hydrating formulas never seems to work.

$42 (30ml) at glowrecipe.com and sephora.com
