If you’re planning to try a new facial self-tanner, I never recommend doing so around the holidays. If you have to though, your best bet is the CLARINS Radiance-Plus Glow Booster. CLARINS has mastered the art of self-tanning and this tried and true year-round color enhancer is a perfect pick this time of year. Especially, if like myself, you are unable to embrace your paleness…

Unlike traditional self-tanners, the CLARINS Radiance-Plus Glow Booster is too rich to be applied directly to the skin. This lightweight liquid formula, however, blends into any serum or moisturizer for a boost of color without any additional steps. Easily slotted into any regimen, simply add 2-3 drops of this ‘made-to-measure’ self-tanner to your day or night cream or lotion for a gradual and uniform color that develops within hours. If you prefer tinted daytime treatments, opt to use the Glow Booster at night.

Drop a hint… of color.
Drop a hint… of color.

Used in most self-tanning formulas, the tanning agent DHA is a common glycerin derivative. Because it’s usually sourced from sugar beets or sugar cane, it is both safe and natural. The robust CLARINS formula is boosted with Aloe Vera Extract and Erythrulose (a sugar ketone found in raspberries) and delivers a deep tan that lasts longer and fades more slowly than other brands, which adds to its natural look.

As with any facial self-tanner, it’s important to remember these three things: SPF is still a must, wash your hands immediately after use, and don’t forget your neck!

This ultra crafty Glow Booster from CLARINS comes in a travel friendly 15ml size bottle that goes everywhere with me. When on vacation, I add a couple of drops of Radiance-Plus into my night cream. Afterall, laying out in the sun is exhaustingly boring and in my opinion, a colossal waste of time. Besides, this pink-toned, high-cheekboned face doesn’t catch light as naturally as you think it does.

If you have neither time nor patience to build up a tan or if your skin tends to lose color quickly (especially if you use acids, retinoids, or potent exfoliators religiously), try the CLARINS Intense Bronze Self Tanning Tint before an event.

CLARINS Radiance-Plus Glow Booster retails for $30. Available at Nordstrom.comSephora.com, and Boots.com in the UK (£18).
