The first time I saw the CHANEL CC CREAM was pre its US release on Eva Chen’s Instagram before she ran Lucky magazine. Luckily, I talked myself out of it because since the debut, #TeamCoco took their universal shade and went back to the drawing board.
Earlier this month, a flight delay in Berlin led me to a certain duty-free counter after one too many dry Rieslings. I left with some serious swag that included a tube of my very own, freshly reformulated CHANEL CC CREAM SPF 50.
Missing my Les Beiges still…
A huge fan of the Les Beiges All-in-One Healthy Glow Fluid SPF 15 (which P.S. offers the most perfect sheer coverage with a phenomenal almost-dewy finish), I instinctively picked up the latest CC CREAM in my go-to summer shade 40 Beige. There was no doubt, this trendier upgrade was meant to become a favorite addition to my CHANEL treatment color wardrobe. Guess what? Je n’aime pas.
Upgrade? Perhaps…
Providing broad spectrum SPF 50 protection, the new CHANEL CC CREAM, guards against both UVA and UVB rays, which makes it more than a solid sunblock. The more intense sunscreen benefits (Les Beiges offers only SPF 15) combined with a stronger pigment that gives truly medium coverage make this Complete Correction fusion a tad too heavy to be used as a tinted moisturizer. If you prefer to hide all your imperfections and go for a matte look, you will love it.
What’s in it?
From the skincare standpoint, CHANEL can do no wrong in my book. Blending the benefits of a tint and powerful SPF with skincare perks, the CC CREM contains hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, soothing marine agents, and exclusive to the brand Peach Extract for boosted antioxidant protection. Yes, there is added fragrance, so calm down and take a deep breath because the peachy aroma is sublime.
Final thoughts…
Because anything CHANEL wears all day long, this consistently luxe newcomer delivers a long lasting color payoff. With that said, while the CHANEL CC CREAM lives up to the prestige price point of $55, with its creamy texture and overall performance, it is definitely more of a lightweight foundation than a tinted moisturizer with built-in sunscreen.
