Calecim skincare brand review and promo discount code

Keeping up with what’s new in beauty is easy. Finding something that actually intrigues me is a different story. The beauty landscape has become a minefield of dupes, catfish, and hype that gets more attention than it deserves. I weed out most press releases, check the “what’s new” tabs on major retailers’ sites, poke around Reddit, text a friend, and scroll (but with caution). And that’s exactly how I discovered Calecim a couple of years ago. Or, as the brand officially calls itself, Calecim Professional.

The first time I tried the iconic Calecim serum, I did not give it a fair shot. Like, at all. It took me weeks to actually open it and use it because I was convinced it was a sample of a product I should save for travel. Because of its size? My mind works in strange ways.

And when I finally tried it… the scent really took me by surprise.

I am now on my third bottle of the pink serum, which, if I’m being honest, totally reminds me of that pink potion in the movie ‘Death Becomes Her’. And just like Goldie and Meryl, I am all in.

Calecim brand review by an industry insider

What is Calecim about?

Let’s clarify one thing first. CALECIM® is a skincare brand built around a proprietary ingredient blend called PTT-6®, which promises skin rejuvenation. PTT-6 isn’t stem cells themselves — it’s conditioned media, the nutrient-rich solution the stem cells are grown in and enrich with their own secretions along the way. Both the brand and its signature blend are owned by CellResearch Corporation, a biotechnology company specializing in stem cell research and one of the pioneers in studying stem cells found in umbilical cord lining membrane.

Stem cells? Umbilical cord?

Don’t panic. I know I mentioned ‘Death Becomes Her’ and now it’s all giving ‘Bambi’. This is actually very family-friendly, educational viewing material.

Real talk: stem cell skincare has a sketchy reputation, and not without reason. A lot of it is marketing dressed up as science, with claims running well ahead of actual proof. So here’s what makes Calecim different.

Calecim works with a red deer farm in New Zealand, where umbilical cords are harvested as birth waste without causing harm to either the mother or the fawn. New Zealand’s deer herds are considered a specific pathogen-free source, meaning no history of diseases like BSE that would raise the zoonotic disease concerns tied to other animal-derived ingredients. What makes red deer proteins special is how naturally they fit with human skin. Your skin’s receptors recognize them as familiar. And they carry none of the disease risks — not because Calecim says so, but because of where and how these deer are actually raised.

Worth noting that this is a free range red deer which is not an endangered species.

Why?

What Calecim studied and proved is the efficacy of red deer stem cell conditioned media on hair and skin rejuvenation. The results are just as impressive on the delicate skin around the eyes, including the eyelid. If you’re not looking to entertain any invasive procedures, this is a genuinely helpful ally in the well-aging journey.

These topical solutions are also excellent for post-procedure healing if you’re into microneedling, laser treatments, PRP, and the like. The PTT-6 compound is packed with growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix proteins. Together, this protein blend helps rejuvenate skin, boost elasticity, and support healing after procedures. I told you it’s impressive.

And this isn’t just Calecim patting itself on the back. There’s a case series on using PTT-6 to heal diabetic foot ulcers that made it into an actual peer-reviewed wound-care journal — independently of the brand.

The Calecim Products

Calecim offers a suite of topical solutions focused on healing, rejuvenation, and improving the overall appearance of your skin. Personally, I’ve tried all but one formula (Professional Pigment Solution), but I’m coming to you with five reviews: Professional Serum, Eye Contour Lifting Cream, Multi-Action Cream, Restorative Hydration Cream, and Recovery Night Complex. Let’s go.

Using Calecim Professional pink serum on my skin

Professional Serum

First impression: it’s small. I wasn’t lying earlier but I really did think the 5ml vial was a sample. Luckily, since you only need about 4 drops per application, this is actually a 3-week supply, more than enough given its potency to address redness and help speed up post-procedure healing.

Calecim pink serum review

Yes, the scent of the Calecim Professional Serum is not the greatest and yes it does linger for a few minutes but the results outweigh any sensorial preferences I may have. I don’t feel the need to elaborate further but it hovers somewhere between yeast and mildew.

Since I do not microneedle at home (starting soon though) and have not had a laser treatment done in years, I am unable to tell you how the Calecim serum works in that regard. I am however happy to share that I am on tretinoin (every other night) and accutane (10 days a month) so my skin is in a pretty vulnerable state prone to dryness and irritation. And of course, redness.

Calecim professional serum before and after

What’s impressive about this Calecim formula is how quickly it works. My skin is immediately calm and hydrated while the redness tapers down in record time. The redness and sensitivity I developed after overexfoliating with peel pads is no longer an issue for me.

Using Calecim eye cream before and after

Eye Contour Lifting Cream

Where do I begin? This one is surreal. I may have found a replacement for my Augustinus Bader Rich Eye Cream which I swear by… until now. It’s a more lightweight texture than I’m used to because the Calecim eye cream dispenses via pump as a pink pearlescent lotion. But the consistency has heft and grip to it which the skin around my eyes craves. For lack of a better word, it feels light but delivers rich moisture and hydration upon contact.

In addition to the brand’s proprietary PTT-6® blend, this eye treatment is also infused with guarana extract (caffeine-rich powerhouse that stimulates microcirculation), peptides, matrikines*, and antioxidants for a well-rounded care approach for tired-looking eyes.

*a quick word on matrikines: Matrikines are basically tiny peptide messengers that get released when your skin’s collagen and elastin naturally break down, and instead of letting that message go to waste, your skin cells read it as a repair signal. Translation: they trick your skin into healing mode, prompting it to pump out fresh collagen and elastin like it’s patching up a wound.

The user experience is flawless with this formula. Calecim eye cream absorbs fast, never feels sticky, subtly tightens the skin (apply all around the eye area including up towards the brows), works great both AM and PM, and helps cancel signs of fatigue. I cannot speak to its lifting effect but I can attest to the energizing properties that make me look more rested without fail.

Using Calecim multi action cream before and after

Multi-Action Cream

Full disclosure: this one requires a slight learning curve. Technically a cream, this Calecim formula actually works more like a serum. What I mean is, it is best to apply it to clean, dry skin and then follow with sunscreen if you wish. If your skin is dry, layer it below a richer formula at bedtime. Another tip I have is to use less product than you’re used to. My first few weeks of using this cream left me frustrated and underwhelmed because the product would turn white on the skin and move around forever before absorbing. Two things I did wrong: used too much of it and layered too much before it.

Personally, I prefer to use the Multi-Action Cream at night over my serum. I also successfully add my tretinoin on top a few times a week. This method triggers no redness, irritation or sensitivities. In fact, my skin feels great in the morning.

If you’re expecting a rich, dense texture, this is not it. It is very airy, almost whipped in consistency. A pea-size amount provides plenty of product to cover your face and neck. It dries matte and comforts the skin instantly. The INCI list here is surprisingly straightforward, capped at twenty items. With PTT-6® being the hero of the formula, Multi-Action Cream also highlights linoleic acid and vitamin E for their emollient and barrier repair benefits.

Now that I’ve mastered the how and when of Calecim Multi-Action Cream, I cannot leave my jar alone. Firmer, more radiant skin does not appear overnight but you will notice visible changes within 6-8 weeks. Usually, just when you’re starting to wonder ‘is this cream doing anything?’. The answer is yes. Actually, it’s fantastic.

Using Calecim hydration cream before and after

Restorative Hydration Cream

Unlike Multi-Action Cream which is all about firming and rejuvenating, the Restorative Hydration Cream is focused on plumping, smoothing, and calming the skin. By doing all that, the skin appears more radiant and rested. Amplified hydration always benefits the skin, making fine lines look significantly less pronounced. The key to sustaining these results longer term is dedication to using effective products consistently.

Calecim Restorative Hydration Cream jar in hand

Packaged in a jar but with a pump top, the Restorative Hydration Cream dispenses as a lotion but is not runny. Similar to the Multi Action Cream, it also absorbs quickly and delivers that pleasant and comfortable tightening effect. Neither formula is greasy or has a slip that lingers after applying.

In addition to PTT-6®, this moisturizer also brings aloe leaf juice for that burst of satisfying hydration. It wears beautifully under sunscreen making it my daytime pick of the two Calecim moisturizers. Unlike the Multi Action Cream, this one has added fragrance and while it’s undetectable to my nose, I wanted to flag it to anyone with sensitivities.

Using Calecim Night Recovery Complex before and after

Recovery Night Complex

This is actually the one Calecim product I have been faithful to the longest. And it may come as no surprise to you that I’ve been using the Recovery Night Complex in a slightly off-label way. Truly a gel, this Calecim treatment is almost runny as it dispenses via the pump. The brand recommends 5-6 pumps per application on nights when your skin needs to reset, reboot, and recover. Since I don’t really get professional treatments at the moment, I use it twice a week (usually Saturdays and Sundays for a back-to-back hit) as a break from a more rigorous routine.

What’s in it? Again, PTT-6® spearheads the magic behind the rejuvenating perks but here, it is paired with niacinamide for brightening, cucumber extract for cooling, and Calmosensine™ which is a trademarked neurocosmetic compound that helps relax facial muscles while you sleep. Truly a repairing break for skin while it’s in its most restful state: sleep.

Calecim Night Recovery Complex texture of gel on skin

So how do I use it? I love using 2-3 pumps of the Recovery Night Complex mixed with half a dropper of my favorite facial oil. This Calecim formula may be about creating a shield for the skin to repair itself but it’s a water-based formula so I treat it as an absorption booster. My preferred sequence is cleanse, use a PDRN essence, combination of Calecim Recovery Night Complex with a face oil, followed by Bonjout Le Balm. I could then get 5 hours of sleep and wake up looking like I came back from a wellness retreat.

Also, if I were to pick one Calecim item to travel with, this would be it. It’s amazing for dehydrated skin after a long flight or for anyone traveling between various climates or time zones, anything that can de-stabilize your skin’s response to the environment. Love it.

Calecim skincare is it worth it?

Is Calecim Worth It?

At 46, I judge and evaluate products so much more strictly than in my thirties. I’m not saying you need the entire Calecim collection to replace your existing skincare routine. It depends on your current goals and level of involvement with in-office or at-home aesthetic procedures. If you get laser treatments or microneedling, definitely get the Serum. If your skin is looking dull, absolutely consider either of the moisturizers.

Personally, I would say every eye cream loyalist should give the Eye Contour Lifting Cream a try — it’s that good. Lastly, the Recovery Night Complex is the easiest to incorporate and a perfect travel companion.

I know what you mean about the user experience, especially when it comes to the serum. I am beyond impressed wtih the Multi Action Cream but really had to figure it out as far as application, layering, etc. Also cannot say enough good things about the eye cream.

Love to hear you’re finding the line so effective!
