Dermalogica HydraBlur™ Primer Launches in the U.S.

*NEW*

Possibly the niftiest beauty invention of the past decade, face primers have quickly gained staple status among makeup and skincare enthusiasts alike. Bridging the gap between treatment and color, Dermalogica HydraBlur™ Primer launches this month and joins the brand’s two existing formulas, Skin Perfect Primer SPF 30 and Redness Relief Primer SPF 20. Sans sunscreen this time around, this addition hydrates, mattifies, and blurs pesky expression lines for a smooth and radiant appearance. Think Barbara Walters before HD TV. Just kidding! Close though.

So, what is a primer and do you need one? Primers are usually silicone based serum, gel, lotion type products that you use after moisturizing and prior to applying makeup. Since silicone is unable to penetrate within the dermis, your makeup not only will stay in place but will last longer as well. Somewhat slippery in texture, traditional primers tend to leave a smooth matte finish with a soft focus veil over enlarged pores and fine lines, which makes them a must-have even on your make-up free days. So, now that you know what a primer is, do you think you need one? Exactly.

Linking Treatment & Color

Dermalogica HydraBlur™ Primer is very much next generation in this hybrid category. The brand’s H2ORelease™ Complex combines Sodium Hyaluronate (water binding Hyarluronic Acid), Algin (antioxidant rich Brown Algae) and Trehalose (hydrating plant sugar) to continuously deliver moisture, keeping the skin plump and firm throughout the day. Added Abyssinian Seed Oil tones and Mushroom Extract refines the look of pores while mattifying agents leave you shine free for hours. Completing the impeccable ingredient deck are radiance boosting Wu-Zhu-Yu Fruit Extract and micro-encapsulated tint that bursts upon application and isn’t so much about color as it is about an instantly brighter and even tone.

Post-Skincare/Pre-Makeup

Appropriate for all skin types and completely non-drying, the HydraBlur™ Primer is a year round option everyone should consider. Creamy yet extremely lightweight, it melts into the skin and blurs subtle creases and diminishes pores.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Less is more; since primers are not fully absorbed by the skin, a little dab goes a long away.
  • By all means, do apply a primer under the eyes. Your concealer will never crease.
  • Lastly, take it with you. The Dermalogica primer couldn’t be more portable and this complexion enhancer works magic on excessive oiliness and other travel related issues.
