Murad Targeted 5-Minute Fixers

Murad Targeted Treatments

Earlier this month, Murad expanded on the popularity of its best-selling Targeted Wrinkle Solution and launched two new ‘5-Minute Fixers:” Targeted Eye Depuffer and Targeted Pore Corrector. These clever formulas promise (and deliver) instant, visible results with just one catch: proper application. I’ll get to that in a second. After a few days of experimenting with the newness, I am quite taken by a couple of them. Quick scoop below.

Murad Targeted Treatments. 5-Minute Fixers for wrinkles, enlarged pores, and puffy eyes.

What are ‘5-Minute Fixers’?

These latest Murad additions promise to do good on the ultimate challenge: instant gratification. In order to achieve makeover-like results, you apply the targeted solution to areas of concern only (fine lines, enlarged pores or undereye puffiness) after cleansing and before moisturizing. You can absolutely expect visible changes minutes after application and the improvements may be dramatic. Bear in mind that they only last until you wash your face. Cumulative results will be more subtle and present themselves after consistent use.

Here are the crucial application tips:

  • Use a very small amount of product
  • Pat it in, do not rub it in
  • Start by gliding the slanted tip applicator over the skin and finish by pressing the product into the skin with your fingers
  • Let the product ‘set’ for a minute or two before applying a moisturizer
Murad Targeted Pore Corrector.

Targeted Pore Corrector

As someone who struggles with enlarged pores on his nose, I cannot resist a product that promises to blur their appearance. The Targeted Pore Corrector includes Soybean Extract and an Amino Acid blend to strengthen the skin barrier and tighten dilated pores. Murad also utilizes Ginger Root Extract, which regulates sebum production and minimizes shine. All ingredient highlights are praise-worthy for their performance over time with daily use.

Let’s take a deeper peek behind the INCI curtain. Polymers (Sodium Acrylates Crosspolymer-2) and silicone (Polysilicone-11) provide the instant vanishing act. These synthetic ingredients have large molecules that don’t penetrate the skin but rather sit on top and deliver that soft, smooth feeling. In short, they fill pores for a glass-like effect. Do not fear any clogging. That will absolutely not happen. I have used this newness on my nose with great success. And while the brand recommends you apply it before using a moisturizer, it can work great as your very last step. Especially since you may need to re-apply throughout the day. $49 (15m)

This is a good one. In spite of the very technical name, it’s an eye cream. If you struggle with dark circles under your eyes or display overall signs of fatigue, definitely give Murad Targeted Eye Depuffer a try. It may be my favorite of the three. The formula is packed with a skin energizing trio of Caffeine, Lily, and Ginseng Extracts. There is also a skin-firming peptide to help minimize expression lines when used over a few weeks. Finally, the brand uses a light-reflecting complex to give a subtle luminosity that makes all the difference.

I like the feeling of tightness the Targeted Eye Depuffer gives the skin around the eye area. To be clear, there is absolutely no discomfort–it’s a very pleasant effect that will have you appearing alert. The soft champagne hue blends in easily with a tapping motion and luckily, does not crease. If you still need to use a concealer over it, let the eye cream set for a few minutes and again, gently pat it in on top. I’m giving this one 10 out of 10. $64 (15ml)

Targeted Wrinkle Corrector

The tube that started the ‘5-Minute Fixer’ movement targets fine lines and wrinkles, which usually appear on the areas of the face most prone to expression. Think around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Similar to the Pore Corrector, this formula includes the same silicone and polymer that smooth out and fill in any fine lines. This superficial effect is impressive but, again, temporary. Unlike similar formulas on the market, this one will not crack or flake off when applied correctly.

Personally speaking, I prefer firming serums that can be used all over the face vs those designed to treat specific areas. For those who need a quick fix for photo purposes, pre-event prep, etc, the Wrinkle Corrector will absolutely deliver results. Be sure to use only a small amount of product and apply it properly. Since it contains Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Squalane, and Hyaluronic Acid, you will notice a reduction in fine lines over time as well. $79 (15ml)
