When you’re best known for the most kick-ass peel pad system in the world, it only makes sense that you’ve also upped the sunscreen game. Yes, I’m talking about Dr. Dennis Gross. His Alpha-Beta Universal Daily Peel is indeed life changing and the Dark Spot Sun Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 was all I wore in Central America last December. Earlier this summer, Instant Radiance SPF 40 dropped at Sephora, so for those who are missing tint in your sunscreen, it’s here. This tone correcting miracle is steps above the double letter competition.

First things first. None of the universal nonsense. The new Dr. Dennis Gross Instant Radiance Sun Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 comes in two shade options: Light/Medium and Medium/Deep. Suitable for all skin types, this airy and ultra hydrating formula is extremely breathable; it feels weightless. Featuring a clean fresh aroma highly removed from the traditional sunblock stigma, the latest Dr. Gross creation feels like an elegant tinted moisturizer with benefits.

Light/Medium – Medium/Deep

What’s in it? A boatload of complexion transforming ingredients like Evening Primrose, Safflower and Olive Oils, Glycolic and Oleanolic Acids, Sodium PCA and Peptides, to name a few. Because Instant Radiance SPF 40 is indeed a triple threat product, it hydrates, conceals and corrects surface imperfections while it provides broad spectrum protection against harmful UV rays. For those interested, the active sunscreen agents are Titanium Dioxide (4.9%) and Zinc Oxide (4.42%).

The coverage: sheer, which I love love love. Instant Radiance SPF 40 is light, creamy and blends in flawlessly. The Medium/Deep sets great on my skin during the summer months and delivers noticeable warmth. Hours into the day, the tint stays true to its shade and doesn’t oxidize as is often the case with other less fortunate formulas. Water based, it absorbs quickly and leaves, well, a radiant finish. Keep in mind that while far from sparkly or glittery, this tinted sunscreen does contain Mica, which produces an iridescent effect. It won’t emphasize fine lines nor pores but if you’re looking for dewy, it goes beyond that. Think illuminating.

$42 (50ml) available at DrDennisGross.com and Sephora.com.

Bummer, Zinc Oxide irritates my skin. Thank you for including that information in your review!

Aw, bummer! Luckily, my skin can take so much but just curious, what’s your go to daily SPF that works with your skin type? Thanks! xB
