Considering I have no lips (seriously, my lips are so thin, they’re almost invisible), I gravitate way often to lip treatments in my never-ending quest for product highlights. Not blessed with the juicy, pillowy and youthful looking pout, I nourish and moisturize what I have. With the most photogenic (or is it instagrammable?) launch from Darphin: the Petal Infusion Lip Oil.
Always impressive, the Parisian authority of botanical solutions is behind some of my most reached for formulas: Aromatic Cleansing Balm, 8-Flower Nectar Oil Cream, and Intral SPF 50, but trust me, the list keeps on going. But a lip oil? In a clear tube with a wand applicator? Who would think that one would make its way into my man bag?
Not a gloss though.
Let’s get the obvious out of the way. The new Darphin Petal Infusion Lip Oil looks like a lip gloss. It’s not. There is no high-shine nor glassy luster left behind. Not even an oily slip, which is something I was actually half expecting. Think balm-like texture with clear consistency, a subtle hint of gloss that helps define your lip contour. All via a fingerless application. Because chic.
All about options.
Available in three target specific variations, the latest comes in Smoothing Blue Cornflower, Rejuvenating Calendula, and Nourishing Rose. Since I rummaged through my gift bag while stuck in bumper to bumper traffic after the press launch event, finding a tube of Nourishing Rose had me feeling victorious. I was flying out to California the following morning so I knew my lips would need something extra owing to the air travel and week in the wine country.
My experience:
The level of fancy I feel every time I reach for this Darphin gem is one of a kind. Effortlessly stunning, the Petal Lip Oil feels present on without any stickiness or tackiness. Does it last hours? No, but a single swipe addresses all the frustrating issues–dryness, flakiness, and other dehydration-related visuals. The gorgeous flower petal bits in the tube magically never escape, so there will be no unwanted specs on your lips. I promise.
Fans of the brand and lip balm/oil enthusiasts: you won’t be disappointed.
