Collosol Eau de Lait aka What Karl Lagerfeld Bathes In

Every once in a while, a product lands on my desk that triggers my hoarding tendencies for fear of never running out. Collosol Eau de Lait is that product du jour. This French import is a unique water milk hybrid and works as a no-rinse cleanser, skin softening lotion, and luxe top off to your bath, says Karl Lagerfeld. Everything I need. Hence the need to stock up.

What is it?

Formulated in the 1950’s by a Parisian pharmacist originally as a theatre makeup remover with skincare benefits, the iconic solution finally made its way Stateside last year. The ingredient deck is very unassuming. Combining hydrating glycerin with a blend of rich in essential fatty acids castor and vegetable oils, cleansing agents, and fragrance, this water milk is a rare skincare find that works brilliantly.

phenomenal

While the scent is pronounced (think orange blossom, baby powder, and musk), my non-sensitive skin enjoys every drop of the Collosol Eau de Lait. Eyelids and all. Two well saturated cotton pads deliver a remarkable cleanse in seconds. Breaking down excess oil, every stitch of concealer, grime, and pollutants, the result is split-screen worthy every time. Literally drowning in micellar waters, I am confident in saying that no other formula leaves my skin this refreshed.

the edge of glory

So good you want to bathe in it…

Now, if you want to indulge in true French decadence, add a capful of Eau de Lait to the tub for a skin softening experience first made trendy by the Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld. “My bathtub is very big, so I use a full bottle of Collosol every day,” may sound like a life goal, but do you really want to take a bath every day? Or speed thru any product that could result in bankruptcy? Treat yourself. I highly recommend it.

Added to: French pharmacy favorites

Having grown accustomed to my great luck with French pharmacy discoveries, I am thrilled with this single SKU brand. Til now, it has been available only to ‘those in the know’ for decades, but the legendary milky water is no longer the behind the scenes best kept secret. With three size options, Collosol, you’ll find it at bigelowchemists.com and amazon.com.

$18 (100ml), $28 (250ml), $38 (400ml)
