Latest from Kiehl’s: Pure Vitality Cream and Calendula & Aloe Masque

UPDATE:

The Pure Vitality cream disappeared almost overnight and since some of you reached out to me with questions, I touched base with the brand and received the following response.

At Kiehl’s, we have always been committed to providing the highest level of product and customer experience.  While the vast majority of people have tried (and love) this product, a small number of customers were not having a consistent experience.  In these rare instances, these customers had skin discomfort likely due to minor raw material variations in the formula.  To ensure our high standards and that all customers have the same, enjoyable experience, we decided to suspend the distribution and sale of the product as we review the formula.

For those customers that currently have this product and are enjoying it, you can continue to use it.  If you are using this product and are dissatisfied with the experience, please contact Kiehl’s Customer Service or your nearest Kiehl’s store.  We welcome the opportunity to find you a replacement or offer our 100% money back guarantee.

We’re sorry for this inconvenience.  We at Kiehl’s have become avid fans of Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream too and will advise when this formula is available again for purchase.

While saddened by this turn of events (I really really *really* liked this moisturizer), I hope everyone is enjoying the Soothing Hydration Masque this summer!

If you consider yourself a fan of the quintessential Manhattan apothecary brand that is Kiehl’s, you may want to sit down for this one. The back to back launches of Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream and Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque may officially be among my all time favorite releases to date.

As a loyalist to the brand for precisely fifteen years, it took me a while to pull myself together after they phased out the Soothing Gel Masque. Fast forward to today: I am blown away by this duo. The color coded yellow containers are a new highlight in my grooming routine.

Pure Vitality

Let’s start with the moisturizer. The hard-to-miss fanfare on social media had me awaiting this debut and bursting with excitement on its arrival. Sadly, I was unable to make the launch party and missed out on early access, but was elated when the PR team sent a sample my way. In short: it is all that. Silky and stretchy, the luscious texture feels like a cashmere wear for the face. Embracing the green beauty space and delivering an eco-luxe experience, this latest gamechanger is 99.6% naturally derived.

*THAT* Good

Honestly, as much as I love Kiehl’s oils and serums, which work brilliantly on my skin, creams in a jar and meant for the face have been hit or miss for me. The brand new Pure Vitality? A major winner. Think Oprah’s favorite things, everybody gets a jar status. Fueled by Manuka Honey sourced in New Zealand and Korean Red Ginseng Root, this impressive face cream delivers lasting hydration as it soothes and revitalizes the skin. If you’re looking to address fine lines, dull tone or dryness, I am confident that with consistent use, your results will be remarkable.

Daytime friendly and perfect as an overnight treatment, the Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream absorbs beautifully and layers well over any treatment product. Personally, I love it as a follow up to the Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate or Midnight Recovery facial oil. The aroma? More honey than ginger but it’s so subtle, you may detect nothing at all. This may be too rich for me on a summer day but right now, my skin is drinking it up like it’s its job. $60 (1.7 oz.) or $79 (2.5 oz.)

Calendula & Aloe Masque

After my first visit to the Kiehl’s flagship store in 1999, my regimen improved with two additions: Algae Masque and Soothing Gel Masque. Sadly, both were eventually discontinued (UK peeps, I believe the Algae one is still available in your neck of the woods – lucky!!!). The brand new Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque is so good, I am ready to let go of the disco grudge. We’re cool.

Details:

First things first: the jar is huge. I choose to store the whopping 100ml container in the fridge for an extra tightening and refining boost. Featuring a blend of Aloe Leaf Juice with Calendula Petals and Extract, the new Masque instantly comforts, revives and nourishes the skin. Perfect as an energizing pick me up or as a post deep cleanse hydrating treatment, this botanical medley is extremely lightweight and suitable for every complexion type. Apply to clean skin and wash off after five minutes. Warning: the mouthwatering citrus aroma, which by the way is completely natural, does not make it edible. $45 (100ml)
