GOOP SKINCARE – Luminous Melting Cleanser & Exfoliating Instant Facial

My spirit animal ever since I saw ‘Hush’ in theaters circa 1998 (a movie apparently nobody heard of), Gwyneth Paltrow has yet to steer me wrong. Her slow roasted tomatoes are one of my best culinary secrets, we shared a doctor at one point, lived down the street from each other in NYC and apparently have similar tastes in beauty because her new range of goop skincare is totally my jam. Also, life is too short not to admit that you subscribe to the goop newsletter. #HowTheOtherHalfLives

As an investor in Juice Beauty and a spokesperson for its color range, Gwyneth Paltrow partnered up with the brand to create goop skincare (the legit name is actually good by Juice Beauty so) and took the natural and organic to new levels of luxury. The tightly edited range consists of six items and after fully indulging in two of the formulas over the last month, I am bowing down to G-Money. She. Did. Good.

Sporting clean minimalism, the packaging of goop skincare is very aesthetically pleasing. Read: it looks expensive. The white jars feel substantial, heavy almost, and are eerily similar to the low-key-luxe Diptyque Multi-Use Exfoliating Clay. Formulated with organic and natural ingredients for the most part, Gwyneth uses only food grade preservatives. With her third cookbook scheduled for release next week (the first one is absolutely fantastic), she is an expert, a tastemaker, and obviously knows her stuff. Featuring truly lovely aromas courtesy of herbal extracts and botanical oils, goop enhances the grooming ritual with a perk of pleasing aromatherapy.

Products I’ve tried: Luminous Melting Cleanser and Exfoliating Instant Facial.

Lush and rich, the Luminous Melting Cleanser is one of the better cleansing balms on the market. If you’re seeking clean, green, and effective options and you’re willing to splurge, goop skincare is full of them. Loaded with nourishing Sweet Almond, Olive, and Coconut Oils, it has a dense and creamy base of Sunflower Seed Wax and Shea Butter. A small amount warmed up in your fingertips and massaged into dry skin will melt away dirt, grime, pollution, and all traces of makeup. Dampen the cloth that is included in hot water and remove it with gentle strokes splash it away sinkside. While it rinses off well, my combination skin needs a follow up, so I’m using it for my first cleanse. Those with dry skin, however, will adore it. Subtle yet intoxicating, the medley of Bergamot, Lavender and Lemon is exquisite. $90 (3.3 oz.)

The Exfoliating Instant Facial is very Gwyneth. You either love it or you hate it. Obviously, I’m totally into it. This multi acid exfoliant is studded with plant based cellulose beads so the resurfacing is brought to you by both chemical and manual agents. Its whipped consistency spreads easily, has a slight grit to it (that would be the beads), and dries soft. When combined with water, it sloughs off the dead cell buildup to reveal a fresh, clear, and radiant complexion. Real talk though… While my skin can take a lot (and it does), this left me pink bordering on red for a good twenty minutes after getting out of the shower. Those with any sensitivities may want to keep the application to the minimum time recommended. A huge fan of this Glycolic, Malic, Tartaric, Citric, Lactic, and Salicylic Acid blend, I happily embrace the tingle once a week with glowing results. $125 (1.7 oz.)

Stylish, luxurious, and most definitely effective, goop skincare is absolutely worth exploring. Next, I’m zooming in on the Replenishing Night Cream, which is often sold out. And how first class international is that Discovery Set?
