Dermstore BeautyFix June Box – Serving SPF Realness & more

Real talk: It has taken me a while to embrace beauty subscription boxes. Why? There are just way too many frogs to kiss. The truth is, with far too many there is invariably the one month in which you start eyeing that ‘cancel’ button when the product selection doesn’t excite you. Dedicated to curating impressive line-ups of full and deluxe travel size gems at an attractive price point, the BeautyFix box from dermstore may be having its best month yet. For those who have been on the fence about trying it out, June is the time to jump in.

The 411

The concept: not revolutionary but thoughtfully executed. As one of my favorite online retailers, dermstore offers results driven and clinically tested solutions based on industry trends and ingredient innovation. The monthly BeautyFix service is a fantastic way to explore brands and formulas that peak your interest while indulging in seasonally appropriate full size staples. Did I mention that the price is beyond tempting? Go with the monthly $24.95 without any long term commitment strings attached or $34.95 if you’re looking to score a one shot deal.

What’s in the June box?

Two full size suncare products that give me all the feels and a handful of minis to try or to share. I say share because as cute as the Jane Iredale lip color looks, it just won’t work with my skin tone… 🙂 There is a favorite of mine that comes in a TSA-friendly tube (oh hey, Sol de Janeiro!) as well as that one product I’ve been dying to try (dermalogica enthusiast forever)!

NIA 24 Sun Damage Prevention SPF 30 Lotion (full size)

Powered by skin repairing and strengthening Niacin, this 100% Mineral Sunscreen provides corrective and preventative benefits that tackle damage related to sun exposure. Creamy yet non-greasy, it performed beautifully as a one step moisturizer with SPF on my combination skin in 95 degree heat yesterday. Since mineral formulas are known to leave a subtle purple hue on my skin, I mixed it with a pump of my Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi, which worked brilliantly. Legit MSRP of $49 (75ml)

ColoreScience Sunforgettable Brush-On Sunscreen (full size)

I’ve been intrigued by this low key cult classic for a few years now. First impressions: worth the hype. Is the retractable brush head the softest thing ever? No. Is the formula genius? Pretty much. The medium shade is extremely sheer and very natural looking. It helped mattify my T-zone while adding a healthy glow that hovered between matte and dewy. In spite of the touch of Mica, there’s absolutely no shimmer. Retails for $65.

Deluxe Travel

This weekend sized addition will absolutely trigger a full size purchase of the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream (24ml). A huge fan of the brand, I’ve become borderline addicted to this body care treat. Since most summer haircare conundrums revolve around humidity, the Alterna Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter from the caviar collection is bound to come in handy (25ml). The Cool Fix from Shaveworks helps soothe and exfoliate skin that is prone to razor burn, redness, or ingrown hairs (1 oz.).

And Minis

The June BeautyFix box includes this ideal Ideal try-me trio: the brand new dermalogica biolumin-c serum, a vial of the Juliette Has a Gun Moscow Mule fragrance, and a mini Jane Iredale Lip Drink in Flirt. Each offers a multi-use experience — a fantastic way to experience a new brand or to try a formula that you may be contemplating as your next splurge.
