Ever since my first African Botanics encounter six months ago, the brand has been topping the list of ‘can do no wrong’ in my beauty book. A perfect definition of green luxury, every sublime formula is equal parts effective and indulgent. Owning the very niche segment of the eco-luxe market, the impeccable range just expanded with the launch of Fleurs d’Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil. Lucky to have gotten my hands on a bottle a few weeks ago, it’s been earning its share of airline miles since.

Admittedly, since my enthusiasm for the Neroli Infused Marula Oil borders on fanatical, I was a bit worried when Fleurs d’Afrique was introduced. Thankfully, they don’t compete but instead complement each other, feeding into my African Botanics obsession brilliantly. The fancy newcomer fights first signs of aging, hydrates, tones and brightens dull, sallow looking skin. The hardest working treatment product to come in a while, it also balances temperamental complexions, refines enlarged pores, protects, and corrects hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage and post acne scars. Filed under: supersize that.

Sourced and crafted from only the finest and purest botanical compounds, each African Botanics formula delivers exceptional results with a surreal perk of mindshifting aromatherapy. Driven by Distinct African Oil Complex, a unique blend of Kalahari Melon, Mongongo, and Marula Oils, this rich in Omegas 3, 6 & 9 matrix penetrates deep within the dermis to rejuvenate and reverse damage caused by the environment.

Collagen boosting Marine Microalgae along with Vitamin A and Coenzyme Q10 provide superb antioxidant protection while Boabab, Immortelle Flower, Calendula, Jasmine, and Rosehip Extracts soothe, heal, and visibly brighten the skin. Inspired and influenced by the flora of South Africa, the latest also highlights Resurrection Plant, HoneyBush, Bulbinella, and Rooibos to calm, condition and prevent irritation.

Slightly thinner in consistency than the straight up iconic Marula Oil, this new treatment applies and absorbs beautifully. Best worn both morning and night, it goes over your water based serums and under a cream moisturizer if you use one. Evoking some of the cleanest herbal, floral, and earthy notes, Fleurs d’Afrique upgrades the zen aspect of your skincare regimen with its pleasant and natural scent. Free of color additives, synthetic fragrances, mineral oil, or animal derived ingredients, every African Botanics formula is 100% splurge worthy. Not to mention, so good for your skin.

Modern and completely gender neutral, African Botanics is commonly referred to as Marula in this His & His household. While my husband lives for the Baobab Clay Oxygenating Cleanser and Buchu Botanical Enzyme Polish, I douse myself in Neroli Infused Marula Oil (hair, face, body, you name it) and ration the Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum. The new Fleurs d’Afrique? Sharing is caring and since this elegant powerhouse suits our significantly different combination and dry skin types, we are both reaping its benefits with huge success.

Hi, great review. Do you know the concentration of retinol in this and the Cell Recovery Serum? I can’t find any information on this anywhere.

Hey! I have no info on either but I am pretty sure that any info on these blends is proprietary and not available…

Thanks for your reply! I always appreciate it when brands are transparent about such details. I know SL’s Luna has 2% retinol. Would have been good to know how this compares!
